Church Board Update
The board met on Tuesday, November 17th. Below is a brief update from the board.
Many Thanks
We are grateful for the way in which this community of faith has embraced change over the past several months and for the many congregation members who have expressed their excitement about what God is doing at Skyview. We are particularly grateful to our ministry leaders who have done an exceptional job guiding their ministries and ministry teams through this season of transition. As we enter into the Advent season the board wishes to thank everyone for their patience, optimism, willingness to serve in new ways, and commitment to this church family. We look forward to hearing more stories of what God is doing in our midst and celebrating our Random Acts of Kindness this Sunday, November 29th as we gather together around a potluck meal. Please prayerfully consider who you would like to invite to this potluck. Please also continue to pray for the leadership and community of Skyview.
Finance Update
In light of our commitment to transparency the board wishes to share the following update from the Finance Committee report. Since the beginning of the summer we have seen a decrease in our monthly tithes and offering. Our established annual budget projection to the end of October of this year is $181,400.00 while our actual income to the end of October is $145,956.43. The board will follow the recommendation of the Finance Committee to monitor this shortfall in income to the end of 2015 before determining if further steps will be required to correct this shortfall. We remain rooted in God’s faithfulness and are grateful for His provision through the regular tithes and offerings of our congregation. Many thanks to the Finance Team for their excellent leadership and stewardship of Skyview’s finances. Please lift this matter before the Lord and pray for God’s continued provision in our finances and for wisdom as we steward every gift and resource entrusted to our church.
Associate Pastor Search Update
Pastor Stuart has humbly requested input from the board as he discerns the job description for a new Associate Pastor at Skyview. We are grateful for this opportunity to seek God’s wisdom in determining the needs of our congregation and to seek clarity regarding the role of an Associate Pastor in this unique community of faith. We remain grateful to Pastor Geoff for his service to Skyview and the vital role the DeJager’s played in our community. Please pray for Pastor Stuart and the board as we embark upon this important first step in the process of hiring a new Associate Pastor.
Property and Building Campaign Update
The Property Committee delivered an encouraging update regarding the sale of 1.5 acres of our land. The Land Divestment Committee is currently managing proposals from several parties who are interested in purchasing this piece of land, which we have planned to sell to help fund our building project. Please pray that God would give the Property Committee and Land Divestment Committee great wisdom as they discern the way forward. Please also continue to pray for the Property Committee as they continue to negotiate with the City of Calgary regarding requested changes to our development application.

Skyview Reaching Out
Outreach opportunity-
Skating party!
On Sunday, December 27, Skyview will be hosting a neighborhood skating party for our Sandstone/McEwan neighbors. We will be using the pleasure rink located at 99 Sandstone Drive NW from 2-4pm. Bring the whole family and invite a friend! We also need a few people who would be willing to provide some baked goods for this event- please contact Vicki or Rich if you are able to do so at missions@skyviewchurch.ca
Consider being part of our next meeting in January. Date and time TBD. Anyone with a heart for the outreach opportunities our church could be involved in is welcome to attend!
Men's Ministry
Coffee for Guys!
Join a group of men for coffee conversation, and Christian fellowship. Men’s coffee is a great opportunity to discuss current events and sports, share burdens, and plan activities like hikes, hockey or service events. Come on out and contribute to the lives of fellow Christian men and bring a friend. We meet at the Northland Mall Food Court every other Saturday, as above.
