The Future Of United With Love...

Dear United With Love's Readers -

I wanted to fill you in about the future of United With Love. Starting January 1, 2016, United With Love will no longer be updated as a daily blog. The website will continue to exist with all of it’s content hosted on the site, however it will not be updated everyday.

Founding, growing, writing and editing United With Love over the last 5 years has truly been a labor of love but after much reflection and the birth of my third baby, I've decided that my time has come to an end as a full-time blog owner/editor.

Over the past 5 years, United With Love has developed an incredible search engine strength and a tremendous amount of readers who are planning a wedding in the DC area. United With Love is 3 to 5 times the size and reach of other wedding blogs and websites in the area. Suffice to say, I’m very proud of what United With Love has accomplished in large part due to the generosity of my sponsors and those that have allowed me to feature their work over the years.

So long as couples are planning weddings in the Washington DC area, United With Love's traffic will continue indefinitely. Posts that I wrote in 2010, are as popular as my most recent posts. Because of this, I will continue to keep a very select number of sponsors in the vendor guide only. (See below for more info.)

I’ve written answers to what I assume will be the most popular questions. If I haven’t covered your question, or you just want to chat, please don’t hesitate to reach out and stay in touch via email at hello@unitedwithlove.com. I really value the relationships that I’ve developed over the past 5 years and I know that I couldn’t have built United With Love without the support of so many. I will be forever grateful to my United With Love family and those that have shared their work and sponsored the blog over the years.

Thank you so, so much!

Juli

What does this mean for United WIth Love?
This means that I will no longer be updating United With Love with new posts every day. The blog will continue to exist as a website. For example, when someone types “how much does a wedding in DC cost” into Google the blog post that I wrote 3 years ago will still come up and users will be able to visit United With Love. Engaged couples looking for DMV wedding advice and inspiration will still be able to find our carefully crafted posts. If you’ve been featured on United With Love, the site will continue to send traffic to you.

What does this mean for Juli?

This means that I will be going back to my loves: my family and my wedding garter business. When I started The Garter Girl in 2004, I promised myself that I wouldn’t be one of “those” creative souls and get myself distracted with other things; I’d stick to making the most amazing wedding garters around. Well, here I am 11 years later with 3 babies and 5 years of full-time blogging under my belt. I still very much believe in United With Love’s mission and the power of a local wedding blog, but I have to choose. My family and the wedding garters are my true passions.

Can I join the vendor guide and become a sponsor?

Yes, I will be hosting a very small and very select number of highlighted vendors in the vendor guide. I will not be hosting sidebar ads. If you are interested in applying to join the vendor guide, please email hello@unitedwithlove.com. Highlighted vendor guide spots are good for as long as I own the blog and keep it active. Additionally, all of the free business listings in the vendor guide have been removed. The only way to be listed on the vendor guide is through a highlighted vendor spot.

What will the blog look like in January?

I will keep the blog alive and going indefinitely. There will be no major visual changes to the layout of the site. I will change the homepage to rotate posts, so that a different post will be at the top every time a user visits the page. If you’ve been featured on United With Love through a real wedding, for example, the post will still be active on the site and it will continue to link to your business sending referrals and traffic to your site.

What about my submissions?

If you have submitted something to United With Love and I’ve accepted it for publication, it will be posted as normal. If you have been thinking about sending a submission, or were hoping to be featured in some way (as a guest post, real wedding, styled shoot, etc.), now is the time to make those submissions. After Dec. 31st, I will not be taking new submissions. Because the site will remain alive, features on United WIth Love will continue give exposure to your business and send traffic to your site.

What will the vendor guide look like after Dec. 31st?

Only businesses in the highlighted vendor section (light orange section) are listed on the pages of the vendor guide. The free text links and listings in the vendor guide are gone. If you are interested in having your business be listed in the highlighted vendor section after Dec. 31st, please see above and email me at hello@unitedwithlove.com.

Will you sell the blog?

I do not have any current plans to sell the blog. However, I am open to whatever the future of United With Love will be. I would be happy to consider any purchase proposals. Please email me at hello@unitedwithlove.com.

Will you help me with my blog?

Yes, I’m be more than happy to mentor anyone in the building of their own blog for their business. If you’ve been blogging for years and want a review/assessment, or tips for improving your business’ blog, or if you haven’t started a blog yet and don’t know where to begin, I’m available for private, one-on-one sessions conducted via Skype. Please email me at hello@unitedwithlove.com if you are interested.
