The Curio: Curative's selection of things that have us thinking...

A note from us....

The Power of Connected Communities.

Here at Curative, we believe in communities. But more importantly, we believe it’s in our connectedness that we are powerful and impactful. We’ve seen this truth time and time again, in the extraordinary ripple effect that unfolds when the whole is mobilised.

It’s seeing the often surprising results of what connected communities can do together that drives us daily here at Curative. This month, there are a few moments that got us reflecting and celebrating the power of connected communities.

Late last month, we celebrated CreativeMornings/AKL’s 4th Birthday. CreativeMornings is our way of giving back to and staying connected with our wider creative community. It is awesome to celebrate this milestone by honouring the connections we’ve made these past 4 years through CreativeMornings.
We’ve also just opened applications for our Social Change Internship, and we're excited to see who puts their hand up this year. Opening our applications has got us thinking about the value of internships, so we asked for the opinions from others in the creative community too and got some interesting responses.

This month we also put the finishing touches on the Ministry of Health’s Healthy Families NZ website. This project truly embodies the power of connected communities, with a multitude of sectors, organisations and localities working together to make the places we live, learn, work and play healthier places to be. An exciting movement is brewing through Healthy Families NZ, and we feel so privileged to be part of it.

We feel immensely lucky that we get to engage with a multitude of people and communities here at Curative. We've seen how much more we can achieve when people work together to combine their super powers for good — whole movements emerge and real positive change truly happen for the world.

I'll leave you with this nice quote from Helen Keller that I feel sums up our thoughts on this: "Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much."

This is Meghan, signing off for The Curio!

What we're browsing...

Muzli

It's the designer's secret source for inspiration. Muzli is an awesome app you can install on your web browser for daily curated picks from the design community.

Meet the New New Zealander

We've always loved Toby Morris' serial online comic The Pencilsword. In this edition, he explores what it means to be a modern New Zealander, and why myths on what it means to be a 'real' New Zealander hold us back.

Better Living through Podcasts

We're obsessed with podcasts these days. Any topic under the sun has probably already been tackled by a riveting (or humdrum) podcaster somewhere. It's a wicked place to start if you're needing a jolt of inspiration. To get you started on some really awesome ones (all hail Gretchen Rubin and Elizabeth Gilbert's Magic Lessons!) check out this great New Yorker article Â»
