Gilead Limits Eligibility for Hep C Medication Patient Assistance Program. Wall Street Journal. Effective July 1st, 2015, patients who are insured and who do not meet their payers coverage criteria will no longer be eligible for support via Gilead’s Hep C Patient Assistance Program.
Hep C Rates Exploding Among Suburban N.J. Heroin Users. NJ.com. A study that tested 861 suburban heroin users admitted to Princeton House, an inpatient treatment center, found that 44 percent tested positive for Hepatitis C. Nearly two-thirds were under the age of 35.

MMWR | Update: Shortened Interval for Postvaccination Serologic Testing of Infants Born to Hepatitis B-Infected Mothers. Recommendation for shortening the interval for PVST from age 9–18 months to age 9–12 months. Providers should order PVST (consisting of hepatitis B surface antigen [HBsAg] and antibody to HBsAg [anti-HBs]) for infants born to HBsAg-positive mothers at age 9–12 months (or 1–2 months after the final dose of the vaccine series, if the series is delayed).

"Under any financial context, when payers make decisions about HCV treatment, it will be important to consider the ethics and public health implications of prioritizing patients for treatment. The effects of prior approval policies for new HCV treatments on patient outcomes warrant continued investigation."
