More upgrades coming to Falcon Stadium as Air Force AD Knowlton announces the addition of a new $2.9m videoboard for next season that will be the largest in the Mountain West & among all service academies, "I think it will help us engage with our fans and, hopefully, ultimately it will make it so that more and more people will want to come to our games." Daktronics gets the job for the addition that will measure 82'8" in length by 31'2" in height, a new audio system will also be a part of the work - link
St. Louis rolls-out new marks for both the university & athletics, new Billiken logo looks a bit more streamlined with sharper angles, notable smile, hair tuft, wink & pointy ears remain, AD May, "Our Billiken has been redesigned a number of times during the last century, and this newest identity system is perfect for today's era of collegiate sports." Heightened security a key focus this weekend for a number of sports leagues following Friday night's tragic incidents in Paris, the NBA says they beefed up personnel at games, the NHL has been in contact with all its organizations, the NFL says no additional measures will be taken today, but existing protocol is already strong. As you likely know, Stade de France was targeted on Friday night by one suicide bomber who had a ticket to the France-Germany Men's Soccer friendly, but was denied entry by gate personnel in a move that likely saved a number of lives - link
More campus developments around the nation worth watching: Another hunger strike is in progress, this one at Kansas, but not in push-back to university admins, instead protesting the leadership of student body executives as they neglected to detail a plan on the 'Black Lives Matter' front during a forum late in the week (link); Students at Amherst (DIII) continue to sit-in the school's library demanding some changes to campus culture & the school's history (link); Ithaca College (DIII) students staged a walk-out to protest racial controversies on their campus (link); President Obama on the Missouri situation, "I want an activist student body just like I want an activist citizenry, and the issue is just making sure that even as these young people are getting engaged, getting involved, speaking out that they're also listening. I'd rather see them err on the side of activism than being passive." (link)

Another Interim conversation, this one with Jackson State's Brown, expresses his desire to take-over the role full-time as JSU has formed a search committee to work through the process, believes leading the Tigers portfolio is the best AD gig in the SWAC, no moves have been made on hiring a new FB HC yet with Interim HC McCall going 2-2 thus far, Brown notes how former AD Fuller is still on campus & contributes to athletics - link
The list is growing as Louisiana Monroe AD Wickstrom will now hire a new FB HC after announcing HC Berry is out, "It’s been a really unusual year but the way the season was going on the field we felt like it was time for a change." Berry exits with a 28-43 (20-25) ledger leading the Warhawks, went 8-5 in 2012, but couldn't keep it going from there, only had a single year remaining on his contract - link
One place where a FB HC change will not occur is at Purdue as AD Burke made it official earlier in the week, HC Hazell says he was never worried about not getting a fourth season in West Lafayette, "It was a strong statement that Morgan made. His support has always been there. The reason he can make those statements — and this is the first time in my 30 years of coaching that I’ve seen an athletic director at practice every single day. They just don’t come out there for whatever reason. He’s out there for support. That’s it. That’s why he can make that statement because he’s able to see the daily progress this football team is making." - link
When UNLV hired new FB HC Sanchez last off season, the Rebels knew they were getting a leader with significant local clout to go along with plans to revamp the program, IMG College property GM Kovac says the latter is definitely happening with revenues up eight to ten percent thanks to six sponsors who are new to the portfolio or have increased their spend since Sanchez's arrival, attendance this year has also seen a boost, moving from 15,674 to 20,298, more on Sanchez's impact - link

Seems like everyone else is & Target is the latest to add the feature to its online shopping platform for another data point in profiling its customers & providing better recommendations, obviously Twitter made the controversial change lately moving from a star to a heart for items a user wants to dog-ear, Target is also integrating Instagram pictures into its product listings to make the purchasing process more attractive, not a bad idea for collegiate apparel sales efforts - link

NYT columnist Powell dissects the Missouri situation & how outgoing FB HC Pinkel responded, former student-athlete Williams on Pinkel's support of his team, "He didn’t have any choice. If black players aren’t comfortable here, he’s basically standing against them. How many black recruits is he going to attract?" Former AD Alden says simply about Pinkel "He’s all about his kids." Former UNLV, Arizona, Washington State & Southern Illinois AD Livengood, along with former Kentucky staffer Downing, announce plans for another post-season MBB tourney, 'The Vegas 16,' that will feature 16 teams & take place all in Las Vegas over a five-day span in late March. Downing, "Our research indicates we will attract high-quality programs with this simplistic approach. This will be a premium event in one premium location." USF tripped-up Temple last night in Tampa & AD Harlan had this to say about FB HC Taggart, "I don't know anything about hot seats. He's certainly my coach now and beyond." Taggart started his tenure with the Bulls by winning just 7 of 28, but has now recorded victories in five of his last six, gained bowl eligibility with two games still to play & the possibility of an AAC East Championship still alive, more Harlan, "These are incredible young men coached by a great coaching staff, and I'm so proud we're all here together at this time at USF." - link

AD for External Relations Napolillo says mini-plans are moving briskly for the Friars & a goal of adding 1k new season ticket holders is 80% there, points to the return of high-profile student-athlete Dunn, in HC Cooley's four-year tenure average attendance has increased by 1,500 to 8,614 (link); Seton Hall is also moving tix at a strong rate, Asst. What a weekend for UT-Chattanooga: FB claimed a share of its third-straight Southern Conference championship, MBB won at Georgia on Friday night & VB earned at least part of the league crown for the first time since 1998, AD Blackburn, "We talk all the time about doing better today than yesterday and doing better tomorrow than today. Our coaches and players are doing pretty well right now." Reporter Wiedmer also writes, "...they're all producing the kind of results for athletic director David Blackburn that should soon punch his ticket to a Power Five Conference job, should the Tennessee native one day decide to chase the money." - link
