Dear CWC Family,
It’s been almost 5 months since Amy’s heart transplant. It seems like yesterday they were calling us with “a young man had had a car accident; the heart is a perfect match, you have 10 minutes to decide, can you be here in 4 hours?” We are so grateful for the progress that Amy has made. Before the transplant she could barely walk 50 feet; this past week we are walking up to 1 ½ miles a day. The new heart remains strong and is pumping to maximum capacity. This new heart has brought us hope.
We would like to thank our CWC family for the outpouring of love that was shown to our family before and during Amy’s heart transplant. The meals, the prayers, the kind words, the deep and caring love, the visits, the baked goods that were brought in and the ones mysteriously that would appear on our doorstep, the encouragement, the driving to appointments, the gift certificates, the calls, the emails, and the self sacrificial way you stepped up to help our family was overwhelming. We especially thank Julie Cook (CWC Mom) for staying with Amy so I could attend our son’s wedding and for Barb Thompson (CWC Mom) that helped run the technology for Amy to attend the wedding electronically. You have all showed us what it means to belong to the body of Christ. We are truly blessed to have such a loving and caring school family. We thank God for each and every one of you.
Larry and Amy Van Den Berg (CWC graduate, class of 1983), Jacob (CWC graduate), Joseph (CWC graduate), Megan (CWC graduate), Melissa (CWC freshman), James (CWC 7th grader) and Samuel (CWC 3rd grader).
