Learn More About Your Spiritual Gifts and Ministries Here at LS!

This Sunday, Nov. 15, at 9:30 in the fellowship hall, Pastor Eric is gathering with our newest members, plus all others who are interested in exploring their Spiritual Gifts and/or learning more about the ministries of Christ’s family here at Living Springs.  We will have visits from various LS Ministry Leaders, with Don & Tina Molineu sharing insights about Spiritual Gifts.  If you would like to complete the on-line Spiritual Gifts Inventory prior to Sunday – below is the link.   It is a fun and insightful tool to help us reflect on the unique disciple the Spirit makes each of us, with our particular interests and gifts (you can also print a downloadable version from the webisite):

Youth Group Happenings
This Week

Kind-2nd grade Youth:

We will meet on Nov. 15th at 1215pm-200pm.  Just like Jesus fed 5000 and they were thankful to come and hear about God's love, we will feast and learn more about God's love also. We are doing a potluck feast. We would like each child bring one of their favorite foods with enough to share with the whole group. For example Carter loves pizza so we will be bringing enough pizza for the whole group to eat. We will also be making ornaments to take home in preparation for the Christmas season!

Club 3456

We are going to meet on Sunday, Nov 15, 2015 at 12:30-200pm in the Fellowship Hall with a pizza lunch.  We will enjoy games and activities about David as shepherd boy, Leader, King and harp player!

Daily Advent E-Mail Devotions

This year, Pastor Eric and the Worship Team invite you to contribute your own daily devotion for our LS Advent E-mail Series.  A theme & Scripture passage will be assigned for each weekday during Advent.  Devotions should be approx. 300 words in length and submitted to Pastor Eric by Nov. 20.  A sign-up sheet will be available in the narthex and admin building.    You can sign up as an individual, couple, or family.   This is a wonderful way to focus your heart on an Advent message to share with others!

Faith Formation Focus in November:

David

Each month we will learn about a new person in the Bible and how that person can teach us how to be a better disciple in today's world.

Our focus this month is on David as a boy, David as a leader of an army against Goliath, as a psalmist and harp player, and upon the Lord’s covenant to David and to God’s people.

We encourage all ministry teams and groups to focus on the passages relating to David for your November devotions.
Would you like to assist in teaching our young people on Sunday mornings?  Please contact Leslie Bloss (lbloss3306@hotmail.com) or Lexanne Graves (Lexanne@livingspringscolumbia.org) if you are interested.

December 1 - #GivingTuesday

We've all heard of the shopping frenzy of "Black Friday" and "Cyber Monday", #GivingTuesday, December 1, is an opportunity for us to give back and give thanks. This year we join this global celebration of generosity by supporting Gifts of Hope, an alternative gift-giving program in the South Carolina Synod (ELCA). This Christmas give gifts to family and friends that really matter. Give hope. For your shopping pleasure, this website contains 31 unique gifts priced from $5 to $150 that give hope to others. The gifts are presented by the institutions and social ministry organizations affiliated with the South Carolina Synod of the ELCA, as well as the South Carolina Synod's companion synods.

Lessons for Sunday, November 11

First Reading: Daniel 12:1-3

The book of Daniel is an example of apocalyptic literature, which is full of strange visions and symbolism. Arising during times of great persecution, apocalyptic literature is concerned with God’s revelation about the end time and the coming kingdom of God, when God will vindicate the righteous who have been persecuted.

Psalm (ELW): Psalm 16

My heart is glad and my spirit rejoices; my body shall rest in hope. (Ps. 16:9)

Second Reading: Hebrews 10:11-25

Images of worship and sacrifice are used throughout Hebrews to highlight what Christ has uniquely accomplished through his death. Because we have received forgiveness through Christ’s death, we live with sincere hearts by trusting in God’s promises and encouraging love and good works from each other.

Gospel: Mark 13:1-8

In the last week of his life, Jesus warned his disciples concerning trials that were to come upon them and upon the world. He exhorts the listener: Do not be alarmed.
