Falling Leaves Festival a Big Success!
Here's an update from the Falling Leaves Coordinators:

Dear SunRidge Community,
Falling Leaves Festival was beautiful, festive and raised funds! "Thank you" does not even touch on the gratitude that is streaming through us all for all of the hard work and incredible contributions each person did to make it so spectacular this year.
We are still tallying stars but have a guess that we raised more than last year!  What a blessing! The funds generated by the Falling Leaves (and the Community Dinner) are our way of annually generating significant contributions to each class' field trip funds. After each of these events, we divide the earnings up per capita to each class. As our children grow, our accounts grow with them. This will take a huge financial burden off of us all in the long run!
If you are interested (and you should be!), the Falling Leaves replaces our former individual class Farmers' Markets. Grades 1-8 are allocated their share towards their class field trip fund, of which 20% can be used to help offset the cost of field trips during that year.  For grades 1-8, 80% of the funds raised each year are held in each grade's field trip fund to eventually help offset the total cost of the larger, very special and important 8th grade trip. The Kindergartens' share of the Falling Leaves proceeds are put in their class funds and can be used by the teachers to purchase a much needed item (or items) to enrich the Kindergarten Program and upgrade equipment that is well loved and used by all of the students each year.
Our community's hard work and dedication to these events are valuable beyond measure. Not only do they bring us all closer together and allow us some fun and merriment, but they also create the possibility of a field trip program that enriches and extends our children's education!
Thank you, thank you, thank you to each and every one of you that contributed to and supported this very special day. We'll provide an update soon regarding the actual amount raised and allocated.
Country Campus Envisioning Update by Callie Almand
On a brisk Saturday morning in October, seventeen members of the SunRidge community answered a call for participants to envision the future of the Country Campus.  The agenda included: a common vision for the future of the country campus, an understanding of the opportunities and challenges, community inspiration and engagement and the next steps for achieving our vision.  Facilitator Miriam Volat guided the group through this process.

First, Mark Rice provided an overview of the history and connection to the land; not an easy task to compress almost thirty years of information into 10 minutes!  Next, we participated in connecting with the land by walking around the campus and then finding our “sit spot” to connect the space with the work ahead.   After these golden moments we were guided to divide ourselves into four groups to discuss and take notes of what a vision for the campus would be in five years.  The groups intermingled and ideas were fluidly exchanged.  Afterwards, we gathered together and shared our work.

A representative from each group shared their notes and these ideas were sorted into categories of vision, programs, and suggestions for change that would support the vision and concerns.  As these ideas were shared, we examined them to see what were repeated threads and created thirteen emerging questions from this exercise.  Lastly, nineteen items were identified as next steps.  These items will be addressed by a committee, which will make recommendations based upon their findings.

The members of this committee are: Kalen Wood, Brighid Fitzgibbon, Rudy Yakzan, Tess Polhmann, Selma Ruth, and Callie Almand.  They will be meeting in November to begin this process.  If you have any questions, suggestions, or support to offer, please contact a committee member.  Look for future updates in the weekly bulletin.
8th Grade Evergreen Fundraiser
Wreath, swag and garland sales benefit the 8th Grade class field trip. Order now through November 16th for early December pick-up. Click here to see flyer and download order form: http://www.sunridgeschool.org/fundraising.html
Volunteer Hours
SunRidge parents support our vibrant learning experience and environment in many ways. Volunteering 40 hours annually is the expectation for every family and we are creating a database of responses to the Parent Participation Survey (that was part of the Pledge Packet sent home before school began) so as to match volunteers with opportunities more efficiently. Volunteer Opportunity: Monday, November 16th, 8:30am-10:30am, Library organizing Volunteers are welcome!
Whole Foods Scrip Made Easy
Whole Foods scrip/gift cards are now available for purchase in the school office. Using scrip/gift cards when shopping at Whole Foods Market is an easy way for SunRidge to raise thousands of dollars each year for school needs (WFM donates 3% of every dollar to SunRidge). If you shop regularly at Whole Foods, we want to make this easy by providing individual reminders when Whole Foods scrip cards are available for you to pick up in the school office.  It is also possible for you to “re-load” a WF card through the scrip website on your own, and you can re-load up to $400 on your existing card at one time, so you don’t need to keep buying new cards each month or to carry around multiple cards. Want to receive personal reminders or learn more about reloading your own card?  Go to: http://www.sunridgeschool.org/whole-food-market-scrip-e-scrip-and-store-cards.html scroll down to the bottom of the page to download the form. Send or bring in the completed form. We’ll take it from there.

Part Time Nanny Needed
I am looking for a part-time nanny for my son, who is age 10 and in Class 4. This person needs to  pick him up from school two or three days per week, take him home (we live a block away), and take care of  him until I return from work. During that time he does a simple chore and completes some homework, and the rest of the time is for play; he usually likes some alone time and some social time. When he plays alone, I ask that you do a little light housework, such as washing dishes. I can pay $15/hour. Please call Alissa at 707-236-0747 if this sounds like a good fit for you. Thanks so much.
