NDLINK MONTHLY UPDATE

Connect. Collaborate. Coordinate.

Dear NDLinkers,

Photos from NDDF DC event on October 28, 2015.

October was a great month for us at PIND as we held our annual Niger Delta Development Forum (NDDF) in Washington DC. The theme for NDDF DC was Generating Economic Development through Infrastructure Investment in the Niger Delta. The Forum brought together select groups of investors, transport and power experts, development finance institutions and government representatives. It sought to produce practical recommendations for infrastructure projects in the Niger Delta that take advantage of the vast investment opportunities that exist today.

Objectives for the Forum were:
  • Facilitate leadership commitment (government, private sector, civil society, donor agencies) to take action in support of the economic development of the Niger Delta.
  • Assess the viability of innovative investment models and finance structures to support infrastructure development in the Niger Delta.
  • Promote multi-sector partnerships and potential infrastructure investment opportunities.
  • Share data and information on the infrastructure gap in the region and evaluate where and how it impacts development.
The next NDDF in Nigeria will hold from November 17-18 in Asaba where we will continue the conversation on promoting inclusive economic growth for the region with local, state, and federal government representatives, investors, key stakeholders and targeted CSOs. NDDF Asaba will seek to leverage the tradition of a value-added space where interested and committed development actors - public, private sector, development practitioners, and international development actors alike - convene to take actions to promote growth while seizing the huge opportunity to influence the development agenda for the region.

Some of our confirmed speakers are:
  • Professor Patrick Utomi
  • Dan Abia, MD of NDDC representing His Excellency Vice President Yemi Osinbajo
  • Michael T. Harvery, USAID/Nigeria Mission Director
  • John Bray, US Consul General

  • Tammie Kammonke, Executive Director, Gender Perspectives
  • Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, Special Advisor to Cross Rivers Governor, formerly representing Cross Rivers in the NASS, one of the founders of GADA
