MOVE Congress 2015 breaks the mould

Relive the most interactive Congress yet with highlights, photos and videos from the 3-day event

The MOVE Congress 2015 proved to be a real event-on-the-move, stretching far beyond the “classical” conference concept. With a wide variety of options for the participants to get into the action, through street sport and spontaneous dances, visits to innovative facilities and plenty of time for networking, there was more to this year’s MOVE Congress than the traditional programme.

As the MOVE Congress is all about being active, there were more interactive sessions, side events and energising breaks than ever, and study tours of innovative facilities for sport and physical activity at the venue, GAME, and around Copenhagen.

The presenters also stayed true to the active lifestyle cause and involved the audience in different active experiences. During the This Girl Can session on physical activity campaigns for girls and women, the Congress volunteers gave an impromptu performance of the This Girl Can flash mob.

Dr. Jayne D. Greenberg from Miami-Dade County Public Schools in the USA, moderator of workshop dedicated to school initiatives, also opened her session with an invitation for the audience to dance along with Mrs. Michelle Obama on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Greenberg is also a member of the US President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition.

Niamh Murphy - MOVE Congress 2015
ISCA's Jérôme Guiraud spoke to Niamh Murphy from the Waterford Institute of Technology in Ireland about how the MOVE Congress has evolved over the last few years: "I think there is a realisation of the greater breadth of sport for all and what it can reach on, and maybe a greater understanding about what we need to do," she says. Defying the “inferiority complex” in physical activity advocacy
Grassroots stakeholders in physical activity are the mobilisers who can deliver compelling data to policy-makers, provide the solutions and ultimately make a difference. But often they are lacking the confidence and the right approach to get through.

Thanks to the MOVE Congress 2015 volunteers
Volunteering leads to positive changes in people's lives: bringing communities together, increasing a person's sense of pride and belonging, and in turn impacting positively on their health and wellbeing. The challenges facing volunteers in today’s society indicate that voluntary sport organisations need to make volunteer management a higher priority and an integral part of their strategic outcomes. 40 MOVE Congress 2015 volunteers from Gymnastikhøjskolen i Ollerup, speaking 11 languages, gave a great contribution to the Congress by sharing their time, knowledge and experiences. They were with us to make difference – for Congress participants and themselves. And they did! We thank all of them for that.
The MOVE Congress 2015 is supported by the City of Copenhagen, DGI, Sport Event Denmark and Lokale og Anlægsfonden. GAME is the MOVE Congress 2015 venue.
