4) It's Your Right Presentation Opportunity

Would your organization benefit from an informative presentation on how to use our ‘Protecting Yourself Financially As You Age – It’s Your Right” Financial Literacy toolkit for seniors. It is designed to educate and empower seniors, encourage seniors to utilize available resources to take a pro-active approach to protecting themselves financially as they age and encourage their peers to do the same.

The various topics include types of financial abuse, including scams and frauds, help seniors identify their own risk factors, and empower seniors to take steps aimed at reducing their risk. These steps will revolve around increasing their financial literacy and money management skills so that seniors are making sound financial decisions tailored to their own values, needs and wants. The toolkit is available in hard copy and also online at www.ItsYourRight.ca.

Please contact Alex Walsh at Family Service PEI if you’re interested in hosting a presentation. (Alex Walsh, Outreach Education Specialist, Family Service PEI, (902) 892-2441).

8) Strengthening Families Affected by Incarceration Day

Canadian Families and Corrections Network (CFCN) and the Confederation Centre Public Library are teaming up to host a ‘Strengthening Families Affected by Incarceration Day’ on Saturday, November 21, 2015 from 1-3:30pm.   We are grateful for funding from the Mennonite Central Committee, Maritimes region, to enable us to host this exciting, free event and are hoping you will join us.

CFCN has over 20 years of experience in building stronger and safer communities by assisting families affected by criminal behavior, incarceration and family/community reintegration.  The intent of this Library event is to raise awareness and education, and to offer support to families who deal with crime.  In order to reduce the loneliness, the shame many feel, the community isolation and school bullying of children; the stigma for families; as well as to create awareness around intergenerational crime, this event will be open to ALL families who wish to attend.

For more details, visit their website or Facebook page.
