The social media advertisement campaigns for the promotion of .ng were launched in the first week of November 2015. We started the campaigns primarily on Facebook and Google AdSense. With this move, we plan to create more online awareness of the .ng domain strings and increase the uptake.

Since we placed these advertisements online, we have witnessed remarkable interests in the .ng brand.

CHOOSING A GOOD DOMAIN NAME FOR YOUR WEBSITE OR BLOG

The essential steps to follow when choosing a good domain name are:
Choose a unique name

  • Keep it short and simple
  • Stay away from numbers and dashes
  • Pick a name that is easy to spell and memorize
  • Avoid using any copyright or trademarked names
  • Use keywords that are relevant to your topic
  • Consider your target audience before choosing a name
  • Name your website after your business
  • Always try to register “YourName” if it's available, for blogs

ATCON Sets Broadband Agenda for President Muhammadu Buhari
The Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) celebrated its 21st anniversary on the 30th October 2015. It was a grand event. ATCON, through its President, Engineer Lanre Ajayi, urged the Federal Government to improve broadband penetration in the country. At the event, ATCON acknowledged the tremendous improvement in Nigeria’s telecommunications and sought more government attention in critical infrastructural development to spur broadband penetration.

Domain Name Report – January to October 2015
The domain name registration in October 2015 was higher compared to the registrations in the past three months of this year. The renewal rate hovered around the same figure as the previous month. In general, from January to October 2015, 18,292 new domain names were registered, 12,612 domain names were renewed and so in total, 30,904 domain names were registered and renewed. In total there are about 60,000.00 (sixty thousand) active and inactive domain names in NiRA database.

WHOGOHOST Entrepreneurship Training
Whogohost Limited will be mounting an Entrepreneurship training in conjunction with NiRA Academy. This training is billed for Saturday 21st November 2015 at NiRA Office Complex, Surulere, Lagos . It is a free one day hands-on training and workshop geared towards re-orienting the Youth about the opportunities in the tech eco-system and reducing the unemployment level in Nigeria amongst the youth.
