God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding. Job 37:5
MISSION STATEMENT
Heritage School provides a distinctive classical Christ-centered education that prepares students for servant leadership and lives that glorify God.

MPAC Dedication

Where We Have Been; Where We Are and Where We Are Going.

Heritage School celebrated a beautiful night in dedicating the Multi-Purpose Activity Center (MPAC) to the glory of God on November 10 at 6:30 p.m.  The Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce Red Coat Ambassadors began the night with a ribbon cutting ceremony lead by Robin Boone, Director of the Ambassadors and parent of a Heritage School graduate.  Matt Skinner, Head of School cut the ribbon and opened the doors to MPAC for athletics, the performing arts, school gatherings and special occasion celebrations.

For more than 5 years, the Heritage School campus has occupied 38 beautiful acres on Smokehouse Road in Fredericksburg, TX. Sixth through 12th grade attend classes in an amazing Texas Hill Country great hall, Herzog Hall, named after the late David Herzog, former Head of School.  The Kindergarten through fifth grade campus, Grammar School Village, is located only 50 yards away.  For 5 years, Heritage students and faculty have stared through an empty shell of a giant steel-framed pavilion, praying that one day it would become a reality.  That day has finally come. After much prayer and planning, the $1.4 million MPAC, Phase One, fully-funded activity center has come to fruition!  Heritage gives thanks to God who has blessed Heritage School beyond the ability to imagine.

Dawsie, Meek, Jami Bell and Carol Bell lead us in worshiping the Lord with a message of God’s faithfulness of the past, present and future of Heritage School.  John Akin, a parent of Heritage School graduates and past board member lead those 250 attendees through the rich history of Heritage Family School from 1994 to the present.  Parker Given, President of Heritage School Student Council and current junior charged students to make an impact of perseverance and integrity whether it’s in sports or the arts in MPAC.  Heritage School current Board Chairman, and Architect of MPAC, Andy Bray shined the light on the future of MPAC and revealed Phase Two of MPAC.  Heritage has received a generous $500,000 matching donation to complete Phase Two.  If all goes according to plan Huser Construction will begin in the spring of 2016.  Closing the event in a prayer of dedication by Nancy Hierholzer, former Head of School of Heritage School.

Senior Political Debate

November 17, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Andy Bray Gives A Lesson in
Greek Architecture

Board Chairman and architect Andy Bray came to Mrs. Hierholzer’s ninth grade Ancient Literature class on Thursday last week.  The students are currently studying Greek mythology and Homer’s Iliad. He presented a power point and spoke about Greek Architecture, showing such iconic edifices as the Parthenon in Athens and several other temples.  He also emphasized the influence of the Greek style in the “orders” (Doric, Ionic, Corinthian style) that can be detected in famous American buildings from Monticello (designed by Thomas Jefferson) to the Smithsonian, the U.S. Capital building, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.  Students asked questions about architecture afterwards.
Thanks, Mr. Bray for a fascinating and enthusiastic presentation!  Mr. Bray, along with Peter Brown (Dallas architect) were the designers of Herzog Hall and Mr. Bray designed the new MPAC building.

Please note that Heritage School (Herzog Hall) closes daily at 4:00 p.m..  All students must be picked up by 4:00 p.m. unless they are participating in an athletic practice.   Thank you.

It’s Eisbahn time again and we need YOU!

In 2008, with the backing of more than 150 volunteer parents, grandparents, and students, Heritage School stepped up to rescue the annual outdoor ice skating holiday event known as Eisbahn for the community of Fredericksburg. This year will mark the 9th year that Heritage has sponsored Eisbahn, the only outdoor ice rink in the Texas Hill Country.
Saturday, November 14th, 9:00 a.m. we need all able bodied men to assist in the set-up of the ice rink.  David Lucas will be directing the set-up activities, but we need as many individuals as possible to help. Ladies are also welcome to assist with the set-up and/or provide snacks to all of those who are willing to help.
Without the generous support of Heritage families who volunteer their time, Eisbahn simply could not exist. Today Eisbahn is an integral part of the holiday festivities in Fredericksburg, attracting skaters and spectators from local communities and from the many visitors who come to Fredericksburg to celebrate the holiday spirit
Saturday, November 14th, 9:00 a.m. please help with Eisbahn set-up.  Any amount of your time is greatly appreciated.

Questions should be directed to Derek Spence, Eisbahn Operations Manager, at 830-456-3387.

Senior Share 2015

Skylar Kitzmiller

Heritage Football Senior Share was held Monday evening in Herzog Hall. Coach Tim Shipman gave a brief overview of the tradition of Senior Share. This was the Fifth year that the Senior Football players are honored by Coach Shipman and each senior has an opportunity to share what football at Heritage has meant to them.
Coach Shipman listed ‘The Four Pillars of Heritage Football:
1.    Team
2.    Attitude
3.    Class
4.    Excellence

Those four pillars exemplify Heritage Football’s lone senior this year: Skylar Kitzmillar.

Skylar discussed what Heritage Football meant to him: brotherly camaraderie, growth in his self esteem, and maturing into a young man. He also addressed his teammates, stressing to them to enjoy the fellowship, because in a blink it will be over.

And also in keeping with tradition, Senior Share 2015 came to a close when the football team lead the audience in the singing of the Heritage School song, ‘Non-Nobis’.
