This year MaterCare has, as always, proven its ability to reach those in the most urgent need and with additional funding, we will be able to develop our work in order to assist more people. MaterCare is currently performing urgent work that will benefit immediately from your support. We hope that together we can match or exceed the sums raised in recent years. The generosity from our supporters in the past has been remarkable and has had a truly transformative effect on the lives of those mothers, children and their families in need.

In 2015, there have been many highs and lows for our organization. We have seen the power of the Holy Spirit at work in our Pope, and we have seen the continual failings of government organizations to adequately meet the needs of the world’s people. This year MaterCare has been denied government funding, again, after being asked specifically to apply. But we have hope, and we have 300,000* reasons each year to continue our work.

Pope Francis said in a proclamation titled “Misericordiae Vultus” (“The Face of mercy”) he wants the year, which will begin Dec. 8, to be a time for Catholics to contemplate just how merciful God has been to them and to understand better how they are called to be merciful to others in turn.

MaterCare International, in dedication to the Year of Mercy, is strengthening its efforts to continue Project Isiolo and begin work on the much needed fistula hospital. We are called to be merciful, especially for the neglected and suffering mothers of our world.

Pope Francis asked that every diocese in the world designate a “Door of Mercy” at their cathedral or another special church or shrine. MCI’s Door of Mercy will be the one to the hospital in Kenya.
