Marty's Message

Last week I had the pleasure of spending the day with Olivia Helbach. Olivia is a sophomore student at Amherst High School who spent the day with me as part of a Teen Leadership program put on by the Portage County Business Council.

This is a wonderful program that teaches leadership skills and at the same time provides a broad overview of all aspects of our Central Wisconsin community and what it has to offer.

During our time together, Olivia learned that a dean’s day is filled with meetings and I am sure she noticed how heavily I rely on those around me. I learned that Olivia is a musician, and a reader, and a writer; and that someday she wants to be a professor of literature.

I enjoyed hearing her dreams and I left our day feeling certain that she will become whatever she wants to be.

You can read more about Olivia’s day in this week’s Monday Message.
