E-NEWS BULLETIN - Monday 9th November 2015
Remembrance Events
* Remembrance Service at Winchester Cathedral: Well done to Calum O’Loughnane from Basingstoke West Explorers, who acted as wreath bearer for Mrs Lindsay Fox MBE JP DL, Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, who led the wreath laying at the Cathedral War Memorial, following a very moving service of Remembrance at the Cathedral Sunday morning. Calum was also introduced before the service, to General the Lord Dannatt, Former Chief of the General Staff & Constable, HM Tower of London. Also to 12th Winchester (Green Jackets) Scout Group and other Winchester District Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer sections, for ensuring Scouting was represented and seen in the community at this important service.

* 6 members of the Queen’s Scout Working Party from Hampshire - Richard, Kaylee, Fi, Karen, Lisa, and Flic - who represented UK Scouting at the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday evening and the Remembrance Parade at the Cenotaph on Sunday morning.

* All the members of Hampshire Scouting who took part in Remembrance Day Services around the County…including Fareham East District who had 400 young people and adults on parade, with duties including a guard of honour for the civic dignitaries and arranging the wreaths at the memorial.
Congratulations to...
* Hampshire Beaver Scouts on another great Xmas Day at Paultons Park, despite the inclement weather. Feedback from the County Beaver Team who were walking around the park, it seemed that everyone (including Chip), was having a wonderful time.

* Hampshire International Team on a busy International Workshop, with reports on recent expeditions abroad and discussion of the Scouts Against Malaria project.

Mytime Active
At Mytime Active we have been delivering Santa Dash’s over the last couple years with the overall aim of involving everyone in getting active at Christmas. Due to our successful run’s in Bromley, we have decided this year to deliver a Santa Dash at Dibden Golf Centre, naming it ‘Solent Santa Dash’ on the Sunday 6th December 2015. This will consist of a fun walk/jog around Dibden Golf Course where we aim to involve 300+ participants.

With this, it would be great to have Ferny Crofts involved in the event, and wondered about the possibility of recruiting a couple volunteers from the scouts in order to help during the event.

I have attached the link below for more information on our Solent Santa Dash.

Captain Scott to the South Pole

Dear Hampshire Scouts,
I am the Events Manager at Gilbert White & The Oates Collections, where we celebrate the life and work of Gilbert White the Naturalist, as well as having galleries dedicated to Frank Oates an African explorer and Captain Lawrence Oates, who made a fatal trip with Captain Scott to the South Pole in 1912.

Having worked with a local scout group to help support one of our fundraising events ,we have put together an exclusive offer for scouts to come and visit us! Please find attached marketing material for an offer open to ALL scout groups throughout Hampshire and further afield! If there is anyway this could be publicised on your website or any material you produce that would be greatly appreciated! Please let me know if this is possible.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Kind Regards
Joshua Godfrey
