Ken Edwards writes:
This is not about Reality Street or my writing but one of the bands I play in. AFRIT NEBULA consists of Elaine Edwards (saxes, flute), Jamie Harris (ex-Trevor Watts sideman, percussion, vocals) and myself (bass guitar, vocals). We play Afro-Cuban/Middle-Eastern flavoured jazz/rock/out music.
We've been playing together for about a year now and are about to release our first recording, Punkique, a four-track EP. Click on the record sleeve image or here to listen to our Jimi Hendrix cover. (We also do a mean Ornette Coleman cover, but mostly it's original compositions.)
We're about to play our first London gig, previewing the EP, next Saturday 14 November – an intimate affair at poet and dance teacher Anthony Howell's studio: The Room, 33 Holcombe Road,Tottenham Hale, London N17 9AS (nearest tube: Tottenham Hale). Doors open 7.30pm. Admission: £8 (includes free CD), conc (without CD) £5.
I would love to see some of my writing and musical friends there.
The "official" launch of the EP will be on 5 December in Hastings, at the Electric Palace cinema – tickets available in advance.
