Abandoned Bike Sweep

Love your bike? Make sure it doesn’t look deserted. With up to 20,000 bikes on campus on a peak day, abandoned bikes take up precious parking spaces, look ugly and invite theft.

TAPS will be conducting the bike sweep Nov 4–18 and if bikes look like they’ve been deserted, they’ll be given a 48-hour notice and removed – later to be auctioned, donated or recycled.

If you have a bike that looks abandoned but is dearly loved, please move, fix or donate it quickly.

Opportunities/Internships

Actuarial Case Competition with UC Berkeley

The Cal Actuarial League (CAL) holds an annual Actuarial Case Competition in the spring. Through the competition, participants will gain exposure to the Retirement, Health & Benefits, and Property & Casualty fields of actuarial science. The case questions this year are sponsored by some of the most well-known companies in the actuarial field, including Aon Hewitt, Beam Dental, and CSAA Insurance Group. A few finalists in the past have not only received cash prizes but have also received internship opportunities from our judges. This year, we would like to invite students from your department to participate in our 8th Annual CAL Case Competition. This is an excellent opportunity for students to tackle business analytical problems that professional actuaries face and to network with professionals and other aspiring actuaries.

Because this is the first time we are extending this experience to other schools, we ask students with a possible interest to please fill out this google form: http://goo.gl/forms/JqrrDr72ww
We will send out more information as the case competition nears to those who are interested.
