What were you doing before you became a VA for Designated PA?
I’ve spent the past 8 and a half years in Australia working in the family wine business and restaurant as Events and Functions manager.
What have been your greatest achievements to date?
Moving to Sydney post university and starting my life on the other side of the world.
What do you enjoy about being a VA?
The flexibility of working from anywhere and the diversity of clients suited to my skill set.
What do you see as the main benefits to an individual or business of outsourcing to a VA like yourself?
I feel that initially it’s crucial to find someone that can grow with the client’s business and who has the right skill set in order to create a long term working relationship. In my experience, nearly every VA works in a specific niche, meaning that they have expertise and knowledge that will benefit clients in that sector.
Describe your work environment when you are virtually working
I like to spend half my time in the home office and the other half out – I find the background noise in a café therapeutic when researching information.
Work life balance is important to everyone – how do you manage yours?
I try not to 'take my work home' with me, so to speak, which can be tricky when you work from home. I treat the day like I would in an office… at the end of the day it’s ‘home and family’ time.
