It's been a great year for Dean Owens (described as "Scotland's most engaging and haunting singer songwriter" by fellow Leither Irvine Welsh). His Nashville recorded album Into the Sea has been picking up loads of airplay and great reviews:
"One of Scotland's best singer songwriters" - Sunday Herald
"Magical" - Ricky Ross (BBC/Deacon Blue)
Album of the Week - Iain Anderson (BBC Radio Scotland)
"Excellent" - Artist of the Week - Scotland on Sunday
"Great little stories wound around ear-worm generating tunes" - Folk Radio UK
4 STARS - Scotsman, Daily Express, R2 Magazine, Maverick Magazine
5 STARS - Country Music People, Music Riot

Radio sessions have included The Janice Forsyth Show, Iain Anderson Show, Another Country with Ricky Ross (all BBC Radio Scotland) and Bob Harris Country (BBC Radio 2 (broadcast date TBC)); 2015 gig highlights included appearances at Celtic Connections, Southern Fried Festival and supporting Rosanne Cash at London's Union Chapel.

Upcoming dates, with his mighty Whisky Hearts band, include Sunday 29 Nov, 9pm, at the Spiegeltent in St Andrew Sq, Edinburgh (part of Edinburgh's Christmas celebrations) and opening for Patty Griffin at Celtic Connections (Sat 16 Jan).  There's a lot more in the pipeline for 2016.

The Spiegeltent date is officially sold out, but I have some (free) tickets available. If you'd like to come along please email me at info@scarybiscuits.com

Dean's latest single - Up on the Hill - has been playlisted by BBC Radio Scotland for the last 5 weeks. This is the video that goes with it - a glorious Edinburgh sunrise, lots of dogs and waggy tails. Clambering over hills at 4am (in the dark) to do the filming was all worth it!  Enjoy.

Into the Sea is available from Edinburgh's Coda Music, Fopp and direct from www.deanowens.com; also as download from itunes and the usual places.

Just Announced
The brilliant 9-piece Anda Union band from Inner Mongolia first toured the UK in 2013 and stole the show everywhere.  The band members all grew up in families 'with the music', several of whom still live in the traditional Mongolian way, and came together at music college in Hohhot, their capital city.  They integrate traditional forms - like the now-famous throat singing - creating a sound uniquely and mysteriously Mongolian but with a strong appeal to a western sensibility.

4 STAR reviews from the Scotsman, Herald and the Guardian

I'm delighted to be promoting their Edinburgh gig (in partnership with Stoneyport Associates), part of their UK wide tour.
