Let's get this party started!

I'm so excited! Not because we are coming upon my favorite time of year...Thanksgiving...are you kidding me? All the food you want without the pressure of presents? AND FOOTBALL! I'm in.

But other than that -  We are kicking off the #RebelliousReaders! YAY! Don't worry, I'm not assigning a book over the holidays, that would be rude. But I do have some set-up work for you. If you recall, the awesome thing about this group will be the interactivity. We don't want typical book clubby stuff. We will be using a variety of technology to connect our thoughts, and most importantly not just talk about the book, but talk abut how we are going to take action. To do this, we have to connect. Watch the video to learn more.

Hey look! It's me!

Your Mission If You Choose to Accept it

First - complete the survey which you can find here.
Second - here is the link to the #RebelliousReader Facebook page. Go there and say howdy!
Last - Sign up for blab - I know, I know...but trust me on this one, there are so many interesting people talking about interesting stuff! As I said in the video, it will ask you to sign up for twitter first - if you're not a twitter user, that's okay. Sign up anyway just to get into blab. Blab is a live video streaming program. Find me, @stipton, and follow me. I will always announce our blab schedule for the book.

Okay, so every down with the homework assignment? Excellent! (click on the links below)

Sign up and learn more about Blab
Note: Not associated with Facebook or twitter (and have zero desire to join?) That's okay. It does makes connecting harder but I will be creating a space on the Learning Rebels webpage for our group, and you will be receiving updates via this newsletter. You can always share your comments there. If you have thoughts about alternative ways to connect, please share! Just reply to this email.
A little Thanksgiving fun!

5 Ways to Add Fun to your Thanksgiving!

Sure we have the bird and the game, but we also have friends and family. Here are some things to do between the commercial time-outs.
  1. Have your own turkey trot! Set a time, have grandma put on her walking shoes and everyone head on out! When the timer goes off turn around and come back. See who can collect the best leaves.
  2. Go old school and play some games (Jenga, Pictionary). Put away the PS4, and try these out for size! Beat off the turkey snooze!
  3. Come on, who doesn't love to color? Break out the crayon's and have a contest. Here is a site for thanksgiving color pages
  4. Heard of Easter Egg hunt right? Try a mini pumpkin hunt! Other pumpkin related games are here
  5. Break out that mobile phone and interview Grandma or capture on film the crazy Uncle and his crazy stories.
  6. Pre-planning Bonus: Help out Meals on Wheels. Deliver some holiday cheer to those who have no friends and family, let them know they aren't forgotten. We all need a little more happiness.

From me to you - one Rebel to another, have a wonderful Thanksgiving - how ever you may be spending it.

Go Bears!
Cheers ~ Shannon
