Dear colleagues and SAWBO friends, we are excited to share our monthly newsletter with you! In this newsletter we highlight some of the places around the world where SAWBO is making a difference, and also some of our upcoming animations.  As always, please feel free to share your suggestions with us at animations@illinois.edu.

SAWBO's New Website
SAWBO's New Website is Live!
Take a look at our new website. SAWBO has been working hard to transform our website into a more understandable, practical, and dynamic tool to easily spread our animations to people around the world to help them improve their lives. Now it will be easier to find our animations in SAWBO's Video Library.

New Animations in our Video Library


Today we have over 500 different animations in our Video Library, with 57 different topics, in more than 90 languages variants. Here are the latest releases:

Dengue Translations from Taiwan

In collaboration with Yung Shen Shieh from the Chung Hwa University of Medical Technology we've just released our Dengue Prevention Animation in Chinese (accent from Taiwan) and Taiwanese (accent from Taiwan). Please spread this animation as far as possible to help with Taiwan's recent Dengue outbreak.

Dengue is a disease caused by a virus that is transmitted to people through the bite of female Aedes mosquitoes. This animation describes Dengue transmission, infection and the different symptoms associated with this disease.

This video illustrates several important preventative measures, both inside the house and the environmental sanitation around the house, to avoid being bitten by the mosquitoes. Let's all work together to stop the spread of dengue!
Mongolian Translations
The Public Health Institute of Mongolia has recently translated eleven of our animations into Mongolian. Thank you for helping us spread these animations even further!

Tuberculosis is a common infection and contagious disease caused by a bacterium that usually lodges in the lungs. TB is treatable and curable. The video illustrates some significant preventative measures to protect yourself and others from getting this disease.

This animation contains a basic overview of microbial disease transmission concepts and basic ways to minimize such transmission. By practicing safe prevention techniques, you can reduce the chance of getting sick.

This animation will show how the SAWBO Deployer app can travel with our collaborators to help spread knowledge to many people and communities across the globe.

We are developing an animation about eating healthy foods.  Healthy eating helps children and their parents live healthy lives. Healthy food fuels our bodies, and gives us the energy to make us feel good. Living a balanced life includes regular physical activity, enough sleep, and good nutrition.

Postharvest Loss: Building a Solar Dryer for Grain
Grain should always be dried before storage. A solar grain dryer can be built very inexpensively. This 3D animation will show you the supplies you need, the tools you'll use, and the steps you'll take to do so.

Ebola Prevention in English (accent from USA)
On November 7th, WHO declared that Ebola virus transmission had been stopped in Sierra Leone. The country has now entered a 90-day period of enhanced surveillance, which is scheduled to conclude on February 5th, 2016.
