This cutie was rescued with her 3 other littermates from an abandoned building in St. Louis.  They were initially going to be returned to their feral cat colony but they were just too sweet and young to be sent back, so they were sent to Heartland instead.  Although Nahla is a bit shy at first, she is just as sweet and docile as can be.  She loves to be near her foster mom and can often be found on her lap begging for attention.  It’s amazing to see how much she has come out of her shell since she was first brought to her foster home.  Nahla has beautiful markings and is petite for her age.  She loves to be held like a baby and will nuzzle your face with hers to show you just how happy she is.  Like most kitties, she likes to play on occasion and enjoys a good game of feather toy and laser light chase.  

She is fine with other cats once she has been properly introduced.  She has never been around dogs before so we aren’t sure how she would do with a canine friend.  Older kids are preferred since she is on the timid side and needs a quieter home.  Shy kitties often make the best pets because they bond with their humans very closely and are very loyal companions.  Nahla is no exception.  She may need a brief adjustment period to a new home, but she will reward you with lots of love and purrs.  Nahla is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, and tested negative for Feline Leukemia/FIV.  DOB 5/13/12

Kanga, and his sister, Roo, were found as strays living on the streets of St. Louis.  Their litter mates were caught at 8 weeks of age and were taken to a rescue group in the area. The kind ladies trapping their siblings did not know that Kanga and Roo were there because they were hiding, so they were inadvertently left behind. They survived another 2 1/2 weeks on their own before anyone found them. Both were terribly skinny and extremely hungry and dehydrated.  Kanga was in the worst shape - he was very emaciated, anemic, and had a horrible upper respiratory infection. We honestly weren't sure if he would make it. Thanks to the combined efforts of St. Louis Feral Cat Outreach, Snuggle and a guardian angel named Ronda, they were nursed back to health and doing great now.  Roo has since been adopted so Kanga is patiently waiting for his turn.  He is quite the character and loves to nuzzle your face and lay on your lap for cuddle time.  He can be a bit timid initially, but he warms up pretty quickly and loves his humans once he has built trust with them.  In fact, he will follow you around and lay by your side, pawing your hands with his paws to politely ask for attention.  Because Kanga was not treated for his upper respiratory infection right away when he was a baby, it seems to have caused some minor damage to his sinuses.  He is perfectly healthy, but he does sound congested at times and sneezes on occasion - just like a person with sinus problems.  We have tried various treatments including a sinus flush, but unfortunately, they haven't really seemed to help.  When he has a flare up, we usually give him a small dose of Benadryl and that seems to help.  Regardless, it doesn't slow him down one bit and he maintains a very good quality of life without special treatments.  Kanga LOVES other cats and must not be an only kitty.  He may do fine with a cat-friendly dog too and older kids would be okay.  He is neutered, microchipped, tested negative for  Feline Leukemia/FIV, up-to-date on vaccinations, and treated for parasites.   Kanga is tag # 7782JB - DOB 6/1/12.
