Autumn News

A season of transitions, new steps, and waiting on God's promises

These last few months have been filled with exciting new opportunities, lots of transitions within our team, seeing people come and go, and time spent in prayer waiting on the Lord as we look forward to the seasons ahead of us. It's in moments like this that we feel the growing pains most deeply, but also see God's faithfulness shine through most brightly.

We are excited to share that one of the girls we have been working with closely over the last few years is currently attending a Discipleship Training School here in Latvia with her son, and is getting ready to go to Thailand on outreach. It is amazing to see how much she has grown and all the ways that God is moving in her heart, and we can't wait to see where she will go in her future. She still needs about 2500 euros for her DTS, if you feel led to give, her information is below.
In September we were thrilled to welcome Bekah to our full time team with Freedom 61. Bekah is originally from Pennsylvania but lived in Colorado the last 4 years working with YWAM Denver. Her primary focus with our team will be working with the Women's Center. She also really enjoys art and creativity and plans to incorporate art as a therapeutic tool at the center. We are blessed to have her here!

Old Town Outreach

With the Autumn season we have started our Old Town ministry. We have gone out two nights now, and they have both been so encouraging. Our first night, we already could see so much fruit, and gained such an excitement for all that this ministry will hold. One group of our guy volunteers got approached by two men promoting a strip club, and they started talking to them and showing them our booklets with information about sexual exploitation, the women who are affected by it, and how men are affected by it as well. As our guys were talking to them, another man joined the group, at first defensive and unwilling to talk, he slowly opened up and told us that he managed one of the main strip clubs in Riga and was connected with many of the others as well. He told us how he was a Lutheran, and that he was terrified of standing before God one day, knowing all that he has done. We were blown away by his openness and can see that God is working in his heart, even if he might not see it yet himself. This last week when we went out, we met him again, and some of the other men working with him. I am sure as we go out regularly we will continue to connect with him. And this is just one story from these two nights.

Pray with us

  • For our team as we have been in a lot of transition the last few months, with people leaving, coming, and moving. It can be challenging being stable and consistent in our work when we as a team aren't stable.
  • At the Women's Center we still do not have any girls. We have had many express interest, but the last few months it has been quiet. So we are in a season of waiting and praying, trusting that God's timing is good. Please pray with us as we wait and continue to prepare.
  • Continue to pray with us as we reach out to girls at the cafe, and for the men in old town as we raise awareness about the realities of exploitation.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers,
we are so grateful for you!

Much love, the Freedom61 team
