Briarwood Advent retreat. Fourth, fifth and sixth graders are invited to attend the Advent Retreat at Briarwood Retreat Center on December 5-6. Enjoy four delicious meals, sleep in one of the great cabins, and learn all about Advent traditions with the Briarwood program staff. Cost is $60 per student ($30 for second student from the same family). Join us around a roaring campfire and enjoy a weekend away with your church friends. For more information and to register, please contact Chip and Terri Sakakeeny.
Advent worship. There are no rehearsals or classes at church this Wednesday, November 25. The season of Advent begins Sunday, and next Wednesday, December 2, through December 16, a thirty-minute evening worship service will be held at 7:00 p.m. The setting for our Advent worship is Holden Evening Prayer. Come worship and invite a friend.
Women's Christmas brunch. All ladies are invited to a Christmas brunch on Saturday, December 5, at 10:00 a.m. Please bring a dish to share. Secret Sisters will be revealed at the brunch with an opportunity to bless her with one final gift. You can sign up to participate as a Secret Sister in 2016, too. If you are not currently a Secret Sister, please bring a gift to exchange. We are also looking for volunteers to decorate and host tables. To sign up or for more information, please contact Lisa Derasaugh.
Advent Fair. On Sunday, December 6, there will be an Advent Fair and Soup Dinner at the church. It will include crafts, Advent Jeopardy and Christmas carols. The evening starts at 5:00 with soup and sandwiches and ends at 8:00 with hot chocolate. Please bring your favorite soup to share and wear your favorite Christmas sweater (have fun with the sweater!). Signup at church this Sunday.
Poinsettias. We are decorating the church with poinsettias. To purchase a poinsettia in memory or honor of a loved one, please sign up at the Information Table ($8 each). You may take the plant home after the Christmas Eve services.
A head usher position has been created, and we are seeking volunteers. The head usher will verify those assigned to worship duties are present on Sunday and quickly find replacements if they are not. They will also serve as back-up to ushers by helping seat people. It will be a rotating, scheduled duty as for other volunteers. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Wendy or Toni Holte.
Amazon Smile reminder. If your holiday shopping takes you to Amazon, please use AmazonSmile—0.5% of the purchase price of all eligible purchases you make will be donated to Abiding Grace at no cost to you. Follow the link to AmazonSmile.com and select Abiding Grace Southlake as your charity.

We collected 54 baskets of Thanksgiving food for the Fishes and Loaves food pantry in Irving. Thanks to all who were able to contribute this year and to our organizers, Tonya and Nick Tomlin. The food was delivered by volunteers last Thursday requiring seven trucks. On Saturday we were invited to help with Good Shepherd Lutheran Church's community Thanksgiving dinner where 315 people were served.
