Welcome to the November issue of Your Community, Your Planet! - well this month has seen some serious rain and winter is definitely on it's way so hopefully our latest newsletter will brighten up your day!

Our projects and services...

Cycle Network Millenium Mileposts: 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of the National Cycle Network and as part of the celebrations the Millenium Mileposts in Scotland are being given a bit of TLC. We have been working with Sustrans volunteers to give the mileposts a coat of paint including the one in Yoker.

WH Malcolm planning application update: we have been back in contact with the planning officer and been told that "the earliest potential committee date would be mid to late January 2016" when the application will go to the planning committee. In the meantime the campaign group have been keeping in regular contact and Scotstoun Community Council have taken the lead on submitting a petition to the Council about the air pollution on South Street.

Green Gym winter dates: we will be out and about with the West Glasgow Green Gym and Sustrans doing various clean ups in December. Why not pop along and lend a hand!

Smoothies at Partick Winterfest: As part of their 40th anniversary celebrations Partick Housing Association will be holding a Winterfest on Thu 10 Dec - and we will be along with our pedal powered smoothies to help them celebrate - see you there!

We are recruiting board members and board advisors: we are still keen to recruit some more board member so why not come and join us!.

We Go Pedal project update: the We Go Pedal recently held a successful event at LINKES in Knightswood but unfortunately the event planned for last Saturday in Whiteinch had to be cancelled because of the weather. Keep up to date with We Go Pedal here!

De'ils On Wheels bikes and accessories: check out the range of kids bikes and scooters we have for sale - and we also have a range of accessories for sale as well including helmets, pumps and lights! Pop by the workshop or get in touch for more info.

Holiday hours: the office and bike workshop will be closing on Wed 23 December and re-opening on Wed 6 January

Scottish Government launches clean air strategy: The Scottish Government recently announced the publication of Cleaner Air for Scotland – The Road to a Healthier Future, a new national strategy aiming to achieve cleaner air quality for Scotland.

Air pollution petition: Action Hillhead have submitted a petition to Glasgow City Council to take action on air quality across the city including Byres Road. Sign the petition now!

Bulb planting in Victoria Park: Friends of Victoria Park will be planting bulbs in the park on Sat 5 Dec - meet at the main gates at 10am.

Cycle Path closure at Dyke Road bridge Underpass: Due to construction works that are being undertaken by Scottish Water at the Dyke Road Bridge Underpass a section of the cycle route in the area will be closed from Monday 23 November 2015 until 4 March 2016.

Co-wheels Car Club comes to Glasgow: Co-wheels Car Club has recently launched in Glasgow offering a range of vehicles of hire to individuals, community groups and businesses from various locations across the City. They are also offering £20 free credit when you sign up.

Glasgow facing greater budget cuts: Glasgow City Council is facing £120M in budget cuts - 20% more than the original £102M of cuts that had been announced.

NextBike Glasgow free membership offer: NextBike are offering 500 free memberships to people in Glasgow via their Facebook page

Glasgow Solar Schools project: The Council recently as part of the Sustainable Glasgow Project eight schools across the City will have solar PV panels installed, including St Clare's Primary in Drumchapel.

New website and latest newsletter from SCARA: the Scotstoun Conservation Area Residents Association have revamped their website and they have also just issued their latest newsletter.

BIG Lottery Scotland launches new multi-million funding programme: a new five-year £250 million funding scheme has been launched with a focus on helping people and communities most in need and groups across the country can share these life changing funds.

Community Planning Partnership praised for improvements: the Glasgow Community Planning Partnership has been praised by Audit Scotland for improvements it is making following a recent performance review.

Get Ready for winter: the Ready Scotland website has lots of really useful information and advice for getting ready for winter and preparing for and dealing with emergencies.
