November News, Events & Info
Happy November, we are officially into the Holiday season with Thanksgiving upon us next week.

As the Holidays approach they are supposed to be a time of happiness, thanksgiving and joy.   We want to make sure that we highlight the Season of Hope as well.  Many of our community members know of someone, or struggle themselves, with substance misuse.  We want to make sure they know they are not alone and the community is here to support them.

RCFY and our partners have very quickly put together a community discussion that will be taking place on Thursday evening, December 3rd.  “HEROIN, you are not alone, it effects everyone in our Community.

The goal of this evening is to help reduce the stigma associate with substance misuse, encourage those want or need help to know it is here and together we are working to bring more support services into our community.

The evening starts at 6:30 pm with resources and representation being provided by The ROAD, FASTER, Live Free Recovery, Hope for NH and others that are being added daily.

Our guest panel members will represent:  People in Recovery, Family members of a loved one with substance misuse issues, Treatment professionals, Recovery professionals and emergency services.

At 8:30 we will offer a Narcan, the drug that reverses the effect and possible overdose of Opioids, training and distribution.  If you know of someone who struggles with substance misuse and they are not ready to explore treatment options this drug could potentially save their lives.

If you have any questions or need additional information please do not hesitate to contact our office.

#NOTEVERYONEISDOINGIT – that is the message our Youth Action members want everyone in the community to know.   They launched their social norm campaign on the 5th and have gotten a lot of attention. The majority of the adult support has been positive, encouraging and supportive – THANK YOU.   As expected there has been some kick back.  Working with the youth and the community we have sent the message that changing behaviors is TOUGH.  The people who live in the norm, and are the minority 24% who report using marijuana, find this message most difficult to accept.
We ask you to keep supporting our Youth Voice and help them spread the word that Not Everyone Is Doing It

Website woes.  We want to point out that we have experiences some difficulties with our website over the past couple of weeks.  We apologize if you have been unable to access resources or other information.  Our monthly meeting agenda and minutes were both unavailable.  We have an amazing volunteer who has stepped up and is helping us through the maze.  Kathy, we are so very grateful to you!  Everything should be up and running better than ever very soon.  Please contact our office if you need something in the meantime.
A special THANK YOU!  As many of you know Christine Bostaph has been a VISTA volunteer with RCFY for the past year.  Prior to that she was a board member, Olweus Bullying Prevention Committee member and all around amazing volunteer for years as well.

Her VISTA time is coming to a close tomorrow, Friday the 20th.  On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors we wish her much success, thanks and gratitude beyond what words can say.   A special thank you to Families in Transition as well for allowing us to participate in the program sponsored by them.

This is just a next step, Christine is so committed to the work and efforts of RCFY that we know we will continue to see and work with her.  Thank you Christine!
Please help us to spread the word about this important evening and post the flyer and share via social media.
