Right now, Claremont is in first place as we compete with 21 other California cities to reduce energy and water use, but we need your help to maintain our lead. You can lower your carbon footprint along with your bills, and help Claremont win the largest share of $100,000 for sustainability initiatives. Signing up just takes a few minutes.

- Invite others to join before March 30, 2016.
- Entering your milage, or indicate that you do not drive.
- Check off how you reduce your carbon footprint and water usage.
- Enter your electricity and gas usage.
- Take a survey and make a plan to save energy and water.
- Posting photos of your sustainability efforts.
- And more!
Join the Sustainable Claremont Eco Team! When you register you may join the Sustainable Claremont Eco Team to earn even more points. From your "Dashboard" click on "Claremont" under the "Leaderboard". Then scroll down to the “Eco Team” section, click “Join an Eco Team”, and select "Sustainable Claremont". So far, about 100 people from Claremont are registered in CoolCalifornia Challenge (almost a third of Sustainable Claremont’s membership). Last year Claremont came in second place, but this year, together, we can win!

SC Welcomes a New Sustainability Coordinator
Introducing our new Sustainability Coordinator, Kate Irvine! Kate has lived in Claremont for six years, and attended Pomona College previously. She comes to us with experience as the Facilitator of the Governance Community at Sycamore Elementary, as well as several other positions at resource centers. She practices sustainability in her daily life through her CHERP retrofit, installation of a graywater system, participation in Community Supported Agriculture, and bicycling.

Garden Notes: Dec. 2015
Read the December edition of Garden Notes to learn about Claremont plants with autumn colors and a native chia plant. Use the monthly "To Do" list to care for your edible and ornamental plants, manage pests and diseases, and keep your garden growing. Rain Barrel and Cistern Rebates
Claremont's rainy season has begun so you may want to harvest some water with a rain barrel or cistern. Currently the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is offering a $75 per barrel rebate, or $300 per cistern.
