A Season of Service

There are several upcoming opportunities for BHS families to serve our local community.

All of the events below are opportunities for students to provide community service during the holidays--and have fun! Students interested in volunteering for any of these activities should sign up in the front office.

Friday December 4th Lighting of the Tree hosted by Fallbrook Community Center  Hours of requested service are 4:30-7:30 pm.  Students are invited to provide service for at least 2 hours of the needed time frame.

Saturday December 5th Fallbrook Christmas Parade hosted by the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce. Interested BHS students need to arrive by 2:30 pm to decorate a 25-foot truck we will be riding in (and walking alongside).  We are hoping to have as many students as possible to represent BHS. Students should bring the following:
  • BHS shirts with long-sleeved white or gray shirt underneath to stay warm.
  • Decorations for the truck (balloons, garlands or wreaths, wrapped boxes, stockings, etc. )
Saturday December 12th Jingle Rock from 10-2 pm at the Pala Mesa Resort.  BHS Orchestra students are all expected to attend, additional volunteers are needed to help support the event in 2-hour shifts.

Donations

In addition to the many events, Advisories are organizing food and clothing drives for the holidays. Students are encouraged to request items from friends and neighbors on behalf of the organizations they are partnering with to help the needy during this holiday season.  We are specifically looking for the following items:
  • Canned food
  • Blankets and jackets/other warm clothing items
  • Toys (new toys only please)

We are also looking for items to help with our holiday events.  If you have any of the following items to help with our Christmas Parade entry, please drop them by the front office before Thursday, December 3rd.

Help Wanted for School Site Council

BHS is putting together our first ever Site Council.  The Site Council is a group to help with ongoing school improvement and to insure parent voice in decisions.  Since we are a new school, this group will help us to set goals in alignment with BUSD district goals.  This work includes identifying and analyzing data to articulate our annual goals and plan to meet them.  Here is a simple article that explains the ways site councils work in schools.  I am hopeful that we will be a highly collaborative force for our community and we will make the best decisions for our students.  We will hold our first meeting in January and we will hold a few meetings to establish our plan.  The schedule for the meetings and length of time will be determined once we have our council in place.  We need 3 parents and 3 students.  If you are interested in participating in this council, please email me for more details.
Yearbooks are on sale now.  Hurry and reserve your yearbook as we ordered a limited supply to keep costs low for students.

Soccer season is upon us! The BHS calendar has been updated to include all boys and girls soccer games. All home games are at 5:30 pm and will be at Ingolds Sports Park in Fallbrook who is generously supporting our team by providing field space.  Admission to Ingolds is $2/person for each game, we hope to see as many BHS families as possible at our games.
