The James Irvine Foundation Invests in Stanislaus READS!
Stanislaus Community Foundation is proud to announce that it has received a significant investment in the Stanislaus READS! campaign thanks to a recent $300,000 grant from the The James Irvine Foundation. The new funding will allow Stanislaus Community Foundation to leverage existing funds and seek new corporate and community support to advance early learning in the region.
Launched in March 2015, Stanislaus READS! is a multi-agency, multi-year effort to help children read and succeed by third grade. Five school districts partnered to expand book distribution programs, summer learning camps and parent engagement. With new financial support, the work will scale up to eight school districts in 2016 and strategies will include additional grants to expand summer learning opportunities, a community-wide book drive, the expansion of Little Free Libraries and extended outreach to local churches and employers.
“We’re pleased to engage with The James Irvine Foundation to improve literacy for kids in Stanislaus county,” said Marian Kaanon, President/CEO of Stanislaus Community Foundation. “As Stanislaus READS! gained momentum in the past year, our partners have modeled collaboration every step of the way. We’re honored that Irvine is committed to funding this meaningful, systemic work in our region."
