Hope in the City

Time for Thanksgiving

At Hope City we are looking forward to our Big Thanksgiving dinner coming up on November the 27th at noon.  Many from the community will come in with their families for a hot meal that is prepared by our team.  Besides covering our community with night and day prayer, one of our greatest joys is giving away food, whether it’s a bag of groceries from our pantry or the thousands of  hot meals from our kitchen that are served, we love being the hands and feet of Jesus to those who live among us.  If you are interested in donating a turkey or other food, or looking to volunteer with us, please contact us at hopecity@ihopkc.org.  If your heart is stirred to give financially, you can give online at hopecitykc.org.
Nightwatch at Hope City

On April 24th, 2015 Hope City started a night watch, doing Friday night burns from 10pm to 6am.  From that one Friday night we expanded to doing every Friday, and now presently at Hope City, our night watch is Monday through Friday 10pm to 6am.  It started with two people who committed to switching their schedules from days to nights.  In October, the Night Watch started an Internship, in which 5 individuals signed up to pray during the nights in the inner-city.  The interns have a rigorous schedule, doing intercession at midnight and 5 a.m., and classes at 3 a.m.  They are taught about healing, the Sermon on the Mount, Growing in Prayer, and the Prophetic History.  Each Wednesday the Night watch team goes out to the streets from 10pm to midnight to evangelize. Neil Kind is the director of Night Watch and he has been giving leadership since the first Friday night burn.  He shared that during their outreaches on Wednesdays, they have been able to build relationships with many from the community. Over the weeks and months, they have met prostitutes and pimps who are on the streets at night.  Several have come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, while many have received prayer, or have been touched in some way through the night watch outreach.
Neil shared the importance of a night watch at Hope City.
“Jesus is worthy!  As the 24 elders worship around the throne in Heaven night and day, it should be on earth as it is in Heaven, and even more so in the inner-cities due to crime, violence, gangs, drugs, and prostitution.  While people are out worshiping other things in the urban core of Kansas City, there is a group of people in the same area that are worshiping the King of Kings.  When people are struggling with drugs or other issues in the night, at the same time there is intercession going on just up the street.  It's all to glorify Jesus Christ!”.
Hope City Classes

As a part of the Hope City TOP (addictions program) and Internship schedule, several classes are taught throughout the week.  Here are two of our classes that we wanted to introduce to you.

Our Monday 1 p.m. class is called THE EMOTIONS OF GOD taught by Ronna Grimes.  The focus of the class is encountering the heart of the Father as sons and daughters and the heart and delight of the Bridegroom.  Each track is 12 weeks with classes weekly.  Through one year’s time, we cover a core curriculum which is based on the Father Heart of God, Song of Solomon, the 30 descriptions of Jesus in book of Revelation, The Bride, and the Life of David.

Our Thursday 2 p.m. class is THE END TIMES taught by Richy Bickle. Did you know there are over 150 chapters in the Bible regarding Jesus second coming?  Richy covers current events as related to prophecies related to the last days, as well as doing an in-depth study of Scripture. This study is filled with information that relates to the days that we live in.
