Discerning the Body
I Corinthians 12:17-34

Every time we celebrate the Lord's Supper together, we read part of this Scripture passage as Paul relates the "words of institution", the words Jesus said at the Last Supper. Paul also talks about taking the Supper in a worthy manner, and part of that is discerning the body in the sacrament. What does that mean? What is Paul really calling us to discern, to understand, to get?

This week we focus on this passage we hear much, but probably don't know well.

What Paul is calling us to do as we participate in the sacrament is not what you might think...

Sunday's Bulletin
ADVENT POTLUCK
Sunday, Nov. 29th, 6:00
We need donations of candy decorations for the Gingerbread House craft we will be doing.

Bring them in this Sunday or next! Thank you!

Bazaar News.  We are happy to report that our Church Bazaar brought in over $2,500.  This is more than last year.  Thank you to everyone that helped to make the Bazaar successful, especially the Bazaar Committee that worked so tirelessly all year long.

Angel Tree.  This season we are collecting gifts for children and youth for The Village (the new name of the Presbyterian Children’s Village).  On the tree in the back of the Sanctuary you will find angels with gift ideas on the back.  Take one with you and return with the new, unwrapped item.  Feel free to buy items not on an angel as well.  Gift cards are welcome.  Your gifts will be distributed to the children and youth in residence at the village and the families that are supported by this ministry.  Gifts are due back by December 13th.

Operation Christmas Child.  Shoeboxes are due today.  In addition to collecting shoeboxes this year, we will be a Collection Center, which means other churches from the around the city will be bringing their shoeboxes here and then we will take them to the main distribution center in Malvern.  Joy Lorah is coordinator for this and needs some volunteers to help with sorting, counting and boxing us the shoeboxes.

Fish Box Collection for Hunger.  Please note Fish Boxes are due today.

Altar Flowers.  Altar Flowers make a nice addition to our Sunday Service.  If you would like to place flowers on the altar in memory or in honor of someone, or if you would like to make a donation to the flower fund, see Rosemary Hargreaves.

We're waiting for your Shoeboxes!!
