Netballers at Debden Park High School net kit sponsorship deal
For the first time in the school's history, the under-16 girls netball team at Debden Park High School, Loughton, has landed itself a sponsorship deal with a local company with the girls praised for their dedication to the game.
The team made up of 12 Year 10 and Year 11 students normally wear their PE kit for matches and tournaments but have been given sponsorship money for a new kit of netball dresses in a professional netballer style.
Donna Barker, director at Gillard & Sons, said: “As we are soon approaching 30 years of building in the local area we had been thinking about how we could mark this by possibly supporting or sponsoring a local school or college.
"We then heard about Debden Park High School's netball team and the hard work and dedication they have put in to their training, and what great things they have achieved so far.
"Whilst the opportunity to sponsor the team for this season presented itself a little sooner than planned we really wanted to help.
"The girls have shown so much determination, drive and promise for the future. They won the West Essex District League last year and are already doing brilliantly this season.
"At a time when a lot of youngsters spend most of their free time immersed in technology, we think the girls should be applauded and supported for committing their spare time and energy to the team, and a great sport."
She added: "Gillard is thrilled that our support means the girls now have new netball uniforms, and hope it is another step forward for them along the road to even greater success.”
The school's Head of PE, Jen Perry, said: “We are delighted to have a sponsor for the very first time at Debden Park High School.
"Gillard & Sons have given our under-16 netball team a fantastic new kit of netball dresses which allow us to look a little more professional on the court.
"I am so proud of the team for their talent in netball, their dedication to training after school, and to helping out coaching and officiating the younger netball teams, as well as competing in tournaments at weekends.
"The team love their new dresses and we thank Gillard & Sons. We will be proudly wearing our kit in upcoming matches.”
