Mainstreaming Biodiversity in the Sylvo-Pastoral and Rangeland Landscapes in the Al-Sharah Agricultural Development Region of Southern Jordan
This project is seeking to increase biodiversity conservation in productive landscapes in pockets of poverty in Southern Jordan throughout promote a new way of mainstreaming biodiversity in sylvo-pastoral and rangeland management activities. Otherwise; the project integrating framework to identify and implement capacity building and biodiversity mainstreaming activities and do this in a complementary manner underway by RSCN.
Thus, upon request of Global Environmental Fund (GEF) and Ministry of Agriculture, RSCN is responsible for providing knowledge of grazing preferred plant species within three fenced area, through scanning the vegetation cover components, classified these species depends on their palatability and status. Moreover, it will provide baseline information for management attitudes including monitoring programs to support biodiversity conservation.

Scientific Name: Acacia tortilis
Acacia is one of the main tree species that is found in southern Jordan that and extended from Wadi Araba to Aqaba Gulf. This plant is characterized with an umbrella shape and tally spines. The tree is considered a source of woods for Bedwins Tribes uses, in addition to its palatability for sheep and camel flocks.

Did You Know!
Sodom-Apple or Milkweed tree (Calotropis procera) is a native plant to tropical regions that is characterized with very hot temperatures. This species is found in Jordan Valley areas and in the south. In spite of its beautiful appearance and flower, this plant may cause temporary blindness if you get exposed to the Milky secretion from the plant. In some areas it’s used for witchcraft and sorcery also.

Uniforms for Law Enforcement Rangers (20,000 JOD)
Based on its authority under the Hunting and Forestry Conservation Law to implement a number of security services, the RSCN has been granted a law enforcement capacity concerned with the control and application of all laws relating to agriculture and biodiversity.
RSCN seeks to finance the purchase of uniforms for members of its rangers, to enable citizens or partners to identify them by their uniform when in the field. The uniform shall be selected carefully to suit the nature of the field work involved, such as long distance walking in hot or cold conditions, and in terms of color, quality and design.
