"We are here in Paris to tell the world that protecting living forests is a solution to climate change."
– Patricia Gualinga, Kichwa leader from the Ecuadorian Amazon

After many months of preparation and organizing, many of our indigenous Amazonian allies have arrived in Paris for the UN climate talks, and the Amazon Watch team is there in support. This is the most important meeting on climate in history, and despite the increased security in Paris many civil society events are moving forward. But you don’t have to be in Paris to support the actions. Stay tuned to our Paris COP21 page to stay on top of the latest.

The message is clear: to avert climate chaos we know we must leave 80% of fossil fuels in the ground. Those are the facts. These indigenous leaders from the Amazon are already protecting some of the most biodiverse places on Earth from oil drilling – their voices will be heard in Paris!

Take action in support of these indigenous leaders today. Share their story with your networks and come back to find out what more you can do in support. We will post new photos, videos and action opportunities during the course of the Climate Talks.

Thank you for your commitment to #ProtectLivingForests and #Keepitintheground in the Amazon!
