Wrap Up Your Year by Giving…

and Receive your 2015 Charitable Receipt

Art Starts communities were full of vibrant programming in 2015. We created puppets, sneakers, dance routines, mosaic signs, custom skateboards, music recordings, choral masterpieces, and 200 costumes for the Para Pan Am games procession, just to name a few projects.

We couldn't do all of this inspiring work without the support of Art Starters like you. Every contribution builds our communities, helping our children and youth reach their full potential, build resilience and achieve artistic excellence.

Here’s how you can help:

o  Yes! I’ll donate $25…   healthy snacks for 20 participants
o  Yes! I’ll donate $50…   art materials to 20 participants

Paving the Way for Corporate Culture in Canada

At KPMG and at Art Starts, being engaged in the community is part of the job. KPMG is passionate about strengthening relationships with their communities. So is Art Starts. Collaboration is a natural fit.

At Art Starts we know first hand that KPMG is making a difference. Since 2012, KPMG has generously channeled the collective experience, skills and energy of their employees – Doron Melnick, Claire Eagle, Gordon Burrill, Andrea Baldin, Yao Du – into Art Starts. Through pro bono services, advisory support, leadership and a consistently respectful and generous stance, KPMG’s involvement has helped Art Starts to evolve and to flourish.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to KPMG – a true leader in social innovation; helping to build stronger, more successful communities.

Art Starter Party Experimental Video

“My name is Trudy Erin, I’m a digital artist and animator currently finishing my undergraduate degree at OCADU.  This video was composited from footage taken at the 2015 Art Starter Party in early November.  It was bore from my effort to synthesize the experience into a digital time based collage. Attempting to capture the group dynamics and levity of an event grounded in community interaction, performance and play presented unique challenges.  I leaned heavily on methods of abstraction as a way of distilling the vibrant mosaic of communities and creativity that is the heart and soul of Art Starts. The video was made using After Effect and Photoshop, the 3d elements were created in Cinema 4d.” Click on the photo to access the video.

2015 Program Showcase Extraordinaire

On Friday, December 11th, Art Starts hosted the 2015 Program Showcase to celebrate the incredible things that happen when artists and community members come together to create vibrant neighbourhoods. The evening had the presence of people of all ages who have participated in Art Starts programs in the Eglinton-Oakwood, Villaways, Lawrence Heights and Glendower neighbourhoods in North York and Scarborough. The event gave the opportunity to showcase the diversity of dynamic arts projects in each of our communities. Click on the pictures to see our photo album created by Poonam Sharma.
