As we round up another year at Ten Cubed, we can reflect on a 2015 that has seen exhibitions from Jonathan Delafield Cook, Anne-Marie May, David Wadelton and Ten Cubed's first group show, So Far..., to celebrate the first five years and midway point of the Ten Cubed project. Celebration of this milestone culminated in a fabulous evening attended by many of our artists, associated galleries and supporters.

This year Ada and Dianne announced the exciting decision to extend their commitment, expanding the Ten Cubed project to include an additional ten international artists. Not to be confined by territory, Ten Cubed 2 will seek to include contemporary artists from around the globe and to further connections between Australian and international artists, audiences and collectors.

To kick off this new endeavour, the extraordinary works of Beijing artist Liu Zhuoquan will be exhibited at Ten Cubed from February 23 2016.

Liu re-invents the ancient technique of ‘neihua’ or ‘inside painting’, originally used to decorate snuff bottles in the Qing imperial court, to transform found objects. Discarded bottles, light bulbs and street lamps are painted with beautiful and intricate representations of flora and fauna or in some cases more sinister subjects that depict aspects of contemporary cultural and political life in China.

A rapidly rising international artist, Liu's work has been acquired and exhibited at White Rabbit, Sydney Contemporary 2013 and more recently in Melbourne at Niagara Galleries. Ten Cubed is thrilled to bring Liu's work into our collection.

Don't miss...

Works from our collection will be featured in Ten Cubed artist Tim Silver's Talking to the shadows exhibition at McClelland Sculpture Park and Gallery 13 Dec-21 Feb. The show will include a new series of sculptures and video works that further explore themes of change and decay by capturing the residue of nature after the devastating 2012-13 Dunalley bushfires in Tasmania.

Ten Cubed artist Pat Brassington's À Rebours exhibition will tour to the University of Queensland 28 Nov-10 April. The exhibition is the first extensive gathering of Pat Brassington’s 30 years of practice.

For those of you who were lucky enough to be in Miami Beach recently you might have noticed the work of two of Ten Cubed's artists. Noel McKenna exhibited at Art Basel with Mother's Tankstation and Alasdair McLuckie's work featured in Dutton gallery's presentation for Untitled Art Fair

Farewell, but not goodbye

After the best part of a year with Ten Cubed, Gina will be leaving the directorship of the gallery to concentrate on an inspiring list of new projects with her creative management consultancy. We think her business name What Gina Did Next says it all! Gina made many worthwhile contributions to the gallery during her time here and we are delighted that she will continue to work with us on projects from time to time. We wish her every success with her future achievements.
