A sesshin is a traditional Soto Zen meditation retreat that includes sitting and walking meditation, Dharma talks, work periods (samu), private interviews (dokusan) with teachers, oryoki meals, and teas. Rohatsu ("eighth day of twelfth month" in Japanese) commemorates the historical Buddha's realization.
