The annual NYSMEA holiday party and lecture will be at Tackapausha Museum on Saturday, December 5th from 6:30-9:30 pm. John Turner will be the guest speaker and the topic will be Long Island Wildlife and Plum Island’s Future. John Turner is the author of The Other Island and co-founder of the Long Island Pine Barrens Society.

- Cost - Free to members (Only $20.00 to join!) - $5 for guests
- Food - NYSMEA will provide dinner-- meat and veggie sandwiches, side dishes, drinks and coffee. You are welcome to bring an additional dish, dessert or bottle of wine if you like.

Other NYSMEA News...
- Tom Greene and Blanca Ching from NYSMEA led many students on a successful beach cleanup at Denyse Wharf on October 18. Over 75 people attended, earning community service for picking up marine debris and bringing marine environmental awareness to an historic site.
- NYSMEA members attended the New York Marine Science Consortium’s annual conference, Protecting Our Coastal Environments: The Outlook for Green and Gray Solutions, held at SUNY Maritime College on October 24. Research students and professors presented their amazing projects.
- Mark your calendar for the SCONYC conference on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Stuyvesant High School. Completed workshop proposal forms are due by December 4. Contact the program committee at sconyc2016presenters@gmail.com if you have any questions.
