Grameen VidaSana welcomes Grameen America to our facility in Jackson Heights

We recently welcomed our sister organization, Grameen America, into our space at Grameen VidaSana. With this new co-location arrangement with the GA Jackson Heights Branch, women are now able to obtain their microfinance loans and receive comprehensive health care under one roof. We are proud of this unique and novel approach to health and finance, and believe this new arrangement will be beneficial for the women we serve. Hola Inglés

“Hola Inglés,” our version of ESL, has quickly become one of the most popular offerings at VidaSana! Led by Maria Arnaud, Recruitment Specialist, the English-language instruction is delivered in a tailored manner for members. Classes are interactive and discussion-based, and due to the popularity of this activity, we will soon be adding another “Hola Inglés” to our weekly schedule. GPC believes access to educational opportunities impacts the health and well-being of our members.
 

 

Community Outreach
 

The Recruitment Team has been busy participating in outreach activities in the Jackson Heights community. In order to spread the word and market our program, GPC attends many local events, including health fairs, consulate activities, and events sponsored by our partners in the community. Current members, or “amigas,” often participate in these activities alongside the Recruitment Specialists in order to provide testimonials and share personal experiences from the GVS program.

Refer-an-Amiga Program
 

With VidaSana membership at 350 women and steadily growing, we are launching a "refer-a-friend" promotion for current members who refer someone to our program. Current GVS members will receive a tote bag with a special "Amigas en acción por una VidaSana" logo when they refer a friend to the program. We know that the best people to promote VidaSana in the community are those that are benefiting from it. Our goal is to reach the 500 member mark in the coming months!

What is a Health Coach?

Health coaches are a key part of our health care model. Working closely with VidaSana members, our health coaches educate and support our women to achieve their health goals and implement healthy lifestyle adjustments. Like the rest of the team, health coaches are bilingual, immigrant women themselves. VidaSana health coaches also lead educational and physical activities alongside their clinical responsibilities.
