"Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor."
Proverbs 22:9
The SSCCA annual canned food drive was a huge success this year. From mid-October to mid-November, SSCCA students collected over 1, 300 items for donation. The school’s class collection competition was led Mrs. Routson’s students in the 7th and 8th Grades who collected over 550 cans of food alone. Mrs. Benner’s 4th grade, Mrs. Grape’s 5th grade, and Mrs. Spera’s 3rd grade classes all also exceeded the 150-can goal and were awarded a free dress down day for their efforts. Mrs. Smith’s 1st grade class made honorable mention as just 5 students collected 115 cans to feed the hungry. All of the food collected was delivered to the Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church for distribution through their Feed My Sheep and food pantry programs to assist those in need. Thank you to all the students, staff, and families who made this year’s drive such a huge success.
