Aleck and family's recent Missions trip to Africa.

Thailand & Australia

It has been a wonderful year that has taken us to Asia for three months - in Thailand as we pioneered a new design school with a focus on the unreached people groups of the world. From there, Donna-Rae and the children came home as I went on to Townsville, Australia to be with over 1300 YWAMers at a family gathering for our missions agency to celebrate the work of YWAM ships and the University of the Nations, our two twin ministries birthed out of Youth with A Mission.

Following this I had a few extra days of University of the Nations meetings. By the time I got home I was quite exhausted so had a short break before going to England to teach on the Nature and Character of God for another week.

I am not sure how we got through the year but we have been so grateful to God and to you for your prayer, support and belief in us. We feel so blessed to do what we do and against all odds see God coming through again and again to provide, guide and teach us throughout. We do not feel so worthy but He has remained so faithful to work through us again and again.

Family

I have just returned from Finland where I taught some young missionary couples, on Communication. (They will soon go on to outreach in Budapest and Israel.) The week before that, I was in Switzerland where I completed the introduction to the masters program I have just begun, and will take up part of my time over the next three years of my life.

The kids are doing very very well. Mya is so tall now and very intelligent in her creativity and zest for life. Micah is fearless and adventurous as well as being very funny with a fine and well-exercised sense of humour.

Donna-Rae has been an incredible and stable partner throughout the last six years of endless ups and downs. We have started 7 schools in 6 years all over the word and she has had her own work as Degree Student Administrator and Academic Advisor with the UofN. I am so grateful to God for her.

Now, as we look back our hearts are full. God has protected and nurtured us as a family in thousands of small and large ways to make all of this possible.

Masters Degree

So... we knew that He would give us just the right steps forward and a few months ago I prayerfully decided to pursue my Masters in Spiritual Formation & Discipleship. So I have begun a three year journey to do just that. I will do this while continuing my existing missions work. While most of the work is done as self study, over the next two years I will travel to Switzerland for two to three-week intensives every three months. The third year I will need to complete a thesis or capstone project.

I will still travel and teach but about half of my work hours will now be spent studying and receiving input through this missions oriented studies program. I will be trusting God for the additional costs involved in this aspect of my education. Lots of work but honestly I think I will enjoy it. Donna-Rae is also looking forward to making a more permanent home for us as a family as all the traveling has taken a toll on our lives in other ways. So now we can be a bit more settled and support the many schools all around the world through shorter teaching and communication opportunities.

The Next Few Months At A Glance

Our work continues throughout this time and we are all home until Christmas now. My next trip will be a missionary training event in Lonavala, India in mid January. In February I have another intensive in Burtigny, Switzerland and then in March, Donna-Rae and I have to be in Kona, Hawaii for 3 weeks of meetings.

Prayer Reuests

1. Prayer for the family as we transition into a more stable and consistent travel schedule.

2. For Donna-Rae and I to manage our workload and energy to get it all done.

3. Finances for my masters- it costs about $1000 every three months not including books etc. We will be trusting God for the finances for this next step. The first instalment of 7 is already paid for, 6 more to go! I will need an additional $100 or so for books over each three months period as I have required reading to complete. In addition to this is the airfare to Switzerland every 3 months.

4. Trusting God for travel expenses for upcoming trips to do teaching and training - about £600

5. For rest and relaxation during our two week break over Christmas. We really need to feel the refreshment of God over the coming weeks as we spend quality time together as a family.

Other than this, we are so excited to continue with God and feel energised to think about all that He has in store for us!

Thank you for your prayer and support and for holding our hands up when we get tired, we do appreciate you so much!
