ADVENT 1

The season of Advent, which comes comes from the Latin word adventus meaning “coming” or “visit," begins four Sundays before Christmas and ends on Christmas Eve. Advent is the beginning of the liturgical year for Christians.

During Advent, we prepare for, and anticipate, the coming of Christ. We remember the longing for a Messiah and our own longing for, and need of a new beginning.

Call for Swag
To help decorate the worship space during Advent, we are asking you all to help us by bringing any winter greens or items from nature - garland, rosemary, holly, pinecones, lavendar, etc.

Advent Care Packages for Refugees
COTA is joining other local churches in partnering with World Relief to provide Welcome Kits for refugee families resettling in the Seattle area. Welcome Kits are a collection of new and gently used household items that will help refugees settle into their new homes.

You can find the list of needed items here:
http://worldreliefseattle.org/sites/default/files/page/files/WelcomeKits_Email.pdf

Drop off items at COTA during worship this Advent and they will be collected and assembled into kits.

Advent Vespers @ George

Vespers is the ancient practice of praying at the setting of the sun. Our adaptation attempts to create space in the middle of the week to recenter ourselves and reconnect to the source that gives us life, meaning, and purpose.

Our December gathering will celebrate the season of Advent, a time of waiting and wonder. Whether you are familiar with this season of the Christian church, or if you are simply looking for a space to slow down and pray, you are welcome here.

George is located in Lake City (NE Seattle) at 2212 NE 125th St / 98125.
