Shannon's
Prayer Letter

November 2015

GREEK IMPACT

Since moving to Charleston in 2008 after I graduated from college, I have wanted to see the Lord move in the Greek system at the College of Charleston. My heart is so burdened for young sorority women as they face many challenges and stereotypes of being Greek. I so badly want them to know Jesus and be transformed by His love and grace.

I have been training a few sorority chaplains this year on how to lead a Bible study and helping them grow in their faith as they pour into their sisters. It is my prayer that they would not just be a Christian in a sorority but a Christian that is living on mission in her chapter. As I have been meeting with sorority girls from different chapters, I realized the need for them to know each other and to be encouraged that they are not alone in wanting to know God better.

Taking a huge step of faith and inviting every sorority girl I know, we had a Greek Impact kick-off party last Wednesday. Girls from Alpha Delta Pi, Zeta Tau Alpha, Kappa Alpha Theta and Phi Mu came to check out this Christian community for Greeks and hear a vision for why a community like this is needed at CofC. I have been blown away by God’s faithfulness in seeing my prayers being answered. Pray for wisdom as I seek the Lord on how to move forward with this sweet group of girls.

Greek Impact Kick-Off Party! I enjoyed connecting my sorority friends with each other in hopes of creating an authentic Christian community for Greeks at CofC.

As my desire for college students to know and love Christ has grown over the past several years, my desire to live downtown near the CofC campus has also grown. Moving downtown would greatly impact my ministry with college students as I would be more easily accessible to them and would be able to do more life things with them. I would also not have to plan my meetings with students around when I need to move my car or pay a parking meter every 2 hours.

I am trusting the Lord to provide a place for me downtown by January (my current lease ends Jan 31st).Will you pray with me that the Lord would provide an affordable place quickly? If you know anyone that may have a place for rent or could help in any way, please send them my way!

As always, I am so thankful for you and your
partnership in reaching students for Jesus!
                            HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Please pray for:
  • Students to know Christ and make Him known on their campus and around the world.
  • Wisdom for how to move forward with a Greek movement next semester. Pray that these 8 girls would also catch a vision for why this is needed and that they would desire to see God move in their chapter.
  • A place for me to live by the end of January! Pray for a safe, affordable place within walking distance of campus.
  • Encounter 2015- December 28th-Jan 1st- 1,200 students from SC, NC, TN, KY will gather in Greensboro, NC to worship, learn, and grow in their relationship with the Lord.
  • My personal walk with the Lord, that I would walk in the power of the Holy Spirit moment by moment.

Joyfully serving with you
