WINTER CRAFT FAIR NOVEMBER 29TH 12:00 - 14:00


On behalf of the PTO I would like to invite all families to the Winter Crafts Fair on Sunday, November 29th in the school gymnasium.
Order forms for pre-paid tickets came home with your children this week.

The PTO Committee is still looking for parents to help man the craft tables. Are you able to give up an hour or two of your time to help us make this another successful ISB community event? Please contact PTO Chair, Heather Hustoft, by e-mail.

LEAVING EARLY OR RETURNING AFTER JANUARY 4TH?


Parents are reminded that if they intend to leave before December 16th or return after January 4th that an application must be sent to the school Director, using the form on the school web site

COMMUNITY NOTICE BOARD


OPEN LIBRARY
Open Library is on Monday and Wednesday lunch times from 12:30 – 13:00. Since the autumn break, the library is also open before the start of the school day from 08:20 – 08:50 for students in Grades 1 through 7. This will continue until March 18th.

SCHOOL CLOTHING
We have a small stock of ISB T-shirts and hooded sweatshirts which we will have available at upcoming events. If we do not have the correct size these can be ordered and delivery time is very short. T-shirts cost 200 kroner and sweatshirts cost 350 kroner.

We are happy to display posters informing of events and other community news in the entrance, but these should be handed into the school office.  Please limit the size to A4. Thank you.

WHAT'S ON IN BERGEN

 
SKATING SCHOOL IN BERGENSHALLEN
Bergen Bandy Club organizes skating school on Saturday mornings from 09:45 – 10:50 in Bergenshallen, the ice hall just across the street from ISB. Th skating school is aimed primarily at children from age 4 to 13 but parents are encouraged to participate especially with the younger children. There is a women’s only practice at 18:45 on Thursdays.

INFORMATION ABOUT EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMES IN BERGEN IN MULTIPLE LANGUAGES
Bergen commune has now published information in multiple languages about early childhood programmes on their web site.  Follow this link, scroll to the bottom of the page.
 
BERGEN LIGHT FESTIVAL(LYSFEST)
This is an annual tradition in Bergen which celebrates the start of the Christmas period. The event starts at 16:00 by the lake in the centre of town. The lights on the tree are turned on, traditional songs are sung and the evnt is rounde off by a firework display at 17:00.The next meeting of this organization for English-speaking women will take place at Danckert Krohns Centre, Kong Oscarsgate on Thursday November 12th from 19:00.

PEPPERKAKEBYEN(GINGERBREAD TOWN)
Bergen lays claim to the largest gingerbread town in the world. This has now opened its doors to the public as part of the traditional celebrations at this time. In addition to individual contributions from ISB families, Grade 2 students have constructed a model of ISB for the town. Entry is free for children under 12, and opening hours are given here.

We try to inform ISB families about local events through our weekly newsletter or on the Parent Notice Boards. If you would like to submit any items for this, please hand them in to the school office no later than Wednesday afternoon. Thank you.
