Dear Friend,
Happy December! What a special time of the year to be surrounded by friends and family. We are having our last Open Farm Day this Saturday, Dec. 19th from 11am - 4pm. It is sure to be a great farm day with so many local products to choose from: holiday wreaths, honey, syrup, pottery, and of course our staples which include amazing vegetables and non- gmo pasture raised pork, grass-fed beef and this month only, grass-fed lamb. Buying local this holiday season strengthens the economic base of our communities, restores the regional infrastructure, preserves local culture, and helps the environment.
This month we are highlighting one of our amazing and steadfast teammates, Shaun. Many of you know him but for those that do not, Shaun started out volunteering many years ago at Round the Bend before it was a non-profit and only a dream in our hearts and evolved into a salaried position this past year. From the beginning, Shaun has helped build the farm from the ground up and is the glue that keeps us together; the humble teammate that volunteers to do the mundane and dirty work, never complaining, and always with a smile on his face. Check out his cooking video, and his Food is Medicine blog on Kimchi (for those that aren’t aware he is half Korean, so Kimchi runs in his veins;) and of course come and meet him in person this weekend and taste his incredible food.
This will be our last Open Farm Day until spring— so come on down and stock up for the winter wonderland approaching! There will be hot cocoa and cookies by Chef Shaun as well as grilled meat hot off the fire donated by Geoff. As always festive dressing is encouraged!
