ERC Data Resources

---

Robust analysis requires high quality data and one of the Enterprise Research Centre’s goals is to enable better exploitation of existing data on SMEs and support the development of new data sources.
Much ERC analysis is based on firm-level micro-data accessed via a team project on the UK Data Service’s Secure Lab. This project area includes integrated data from the Business Structure Database (BSD), the Community Innovation Survey (CIS), and the Annual Business Survey (ABS) as well as cross-sectional datasets such as the Employer Skills Survey 2011. By linking these datasets together and cross tabulating them for the first time, we can explore a wider variety of indices on firm characteristics and undertake longitudinal analyses to produce a more composite view of SME growth.

Our longer term aim is to widen the number of data sources available to the Centre’s researchers and we are actively working with third parties to do so.

Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship based in the Enterprise Research Centre at Warwick Business School.
The person appointed will work with Professor Stephen Roper, Professor Jim Love and Professor Nola Hewitt-Dundas (Queens, Belfast).
This position is part of the Enterprise Research Centre’s programme focussing on SMEs, innovation, productivity and business eco-systems. The post requires strong analytical and econometric skills and ideally experience of working with innovation survey data. 

The Research Fellow will be involved actively in all aspects of the project including dataset maintenance and development, econometric estimation, and co-authoring and presenting conference and academic papers. The Research Fellow will also be expected to contribute actively to the impact strategy and wider dissemination of research results to stakeholders and policymakers. 

The Enterprise Research Centre is a collaborative research centre led by Warwick and Aston Business Schools with Imperial, Strathclyde, Birmingham and Queen’s University School of Management as partner institutions. The Enterprise Research Centre is co-funded by the ESRC, BIS, Innovate UK and, from January 2016, by the British Business Bank.

 In partnership with ERC, Imperial College Business School is launching a seminar in London on January 28th, 2016 to explore the effect of accelerators. The seminar is intended for academics, policy makers, research practitioners from across Europe with the goal to expose the participants to different international perspectives, evidence on accelerators and its effect on regional entrepreneurial ecosystems.This is also an opportunity to form a network of relationships with key players from the European startup ecosystem.
