Maggie Turner, SWU’s director of community engagement, (she's in front of the light blue slide at right!) enjoys an outing with the girls of Mordecai Project's girls home at a water park in India. Turner is grateful to the SWU community for helping sponsor the water park trip. Turner ministered to and played with the girls, who were rescued from abandonment and brought to the home. According to Turner, many of India’s female babies born in poverty are abandoned or killed after birth. Turner also addressed the Christian Women’s Leadership Conference in Tanuku, India. Go to www.themordecaiproject.org for details about the Mordecai Project.
SWU welcomed its Board of Visitors to Central for a meeting Dec. 2 at Bryant Lodge where members received updates on campus projects from President Todd Voss and also heard from the university's Advancement team.

Salmon is the most amazing fish. It is born in fresh water, spends a good portion of its life in the open sea, only to swim back hundreds of miles to return to it's birthplace in order to spawn. Salmon are so smart; That’s why they are considered a “brain food.” Avoid farmed fish - these are  generally  weaker fish that would not  have that beautiful red color (wild salmon’s red coloring is  due to it’s consumption of  krill)  if not for the synthetic version of astaxanthin  they are being fed. Salmon is prized for it’s exceptionally high content of omeg-3 fatty acids. Wild Alaskan salmon also tends to be one of the cleanest sources of fish, typically containing the lowest levels of heavy metals and pesticide residues. Eat salmon. Your brain will thank you!
