December 2015 Update
Hi friends!
As we draw to a close this year we are so thankful for the season we are in. The refreshing and hope that has come from the last few months has really inspired us to press on. We are grateful for all of you who have been praying for us and cheering us on. We have been learning a lot, I'll highlight one area of growth God has been teaching me about recently...
We are so honored to be able to walk alongside the families in our neighborhood. Over the past few years we have been able to journey together through the ups and downs of growing up, health, bullying, a new culture, all kinds of things really. It has been a wonderful and awe-inspiring opportunity for us to be the love and light of Jesus.
Recently though, to be honest, I had been fearing because of our decision to put our 'Youth Street' program on hold because of staff and rest issues. Some of the momentum and work we had built up would vanish. As I have been wrestling with this my prayers began to change. They have become less about what we're trying to accomplish and more centered around God making a way to reach people where I cannot.
Interestingly, just in this past week, I have had opportunity to reconnect with some of the families we have been getting to know. It was so encouraging for my heart to see even when I stop, God doesn't stop working. It is amazing as to see some of the children we met as 3rd graders we started out with are now beginning middle school. Please be praying for us as we restart 'Youth Street' in the new year.
God has been speaking to me (Luke) personally a lot about not fearing. This is such a struggle for me as I let so many fears overwhelm me at times. Fear of man, fear of failure, you name it, there are SO many temptations to fear, every day. But God speaks into our hearts to say, "Do not fear, Have courage, I am with You". This has been water to me... air to me... confidence flooding through my bones and heart as we believe for Him to do great things through our willingness, availability and obedience.
One of the areas where fear likes to creep in the most with me is Finances. I'm sure most people can relate. Faith in our finances is one of the things we signed up for in this area of Missionary work... but when we're REALLY under pressure, how do I apply that word to how I feel? The answer for me is BELIEF & TRUST. Often I'm challenged in my faith to step out in belief. Do I really believe what God is saying? Do I really TRUST him?
Right now, we are really under pressure financially. We are working hard to raise more regular income and its been slow-going. BUT...we know God has it though, just last month we received a huge gift to cover all our needs. Miraculously, this has become the normal for us. We choose to be content and grateful how God is taking care of us.
This month, just to cover the rest of the rent and utilities, we need $1600.
If you would like to join our support team either by giving a once-off gift or a monthly gift please click through to this link and there will be instructions for you to complete the gift. We appreciate all of your help!.... To read more of what we are aiming for financially you can read up on it here.
"Do not fear, Have courage, I am with You"... I hope this word resonates with you as you continue to take steps of faith toward Him. May you be blessed today with such a wave of encouragement and peace as you say "yes" to Him.
We love you all!!
