I don't have any books to share this month. I could give the usual excuse about getting busy, and it would be true: we were doing some home renovations, and those have progressed to the point where the work is on us, not the contractors. So there has been a lot of painting in my weekends lately. But I think a more honest answer to why I didn't post another book last month is that I was really following a lot of the discussion around A Fine Dessert, and that sapped my energy for thinking about kids' books. (If you missed that discussion, this NPR story has an overview.)

I can't say I've really finished processing that discussion, but I feel like I've learned a lot from following it. Maybe at some point, I will write more on the topic.

Once again, in lieu of any news of my own, I'll share a book I'm excited about. I backed the IndieGoGo campaign for Serena Sees Her Footprints on the Moon, and encourage you to check it out. I've chatted with the founder of this charity, and think he's trying to do something really cool: create stories about science and technology so that more little girls can see themselves in those roles. He and I are discussing the possibility that I'll give him a story to publish. In fact, that is the story I'm working on now! It is about a little girl who loves frogs. I hope to finish it off this year, but then I don't know when (or even if) he would publish it.

I'll be back next month with my usual content. I hope you have a happy holiday season!
